Description
In 1927 a man from Omsk, Russia was awoken by the sound of panicking horses from a nearby barn. Thinking that thieves or vandals might have upset them, he went to investigate. When he threw the doors open he was nearly trampled by the horses as they fled from whatever was inside. Accompanied by a few neighbors who had also been drawn by the commotion, he entered with flashlight and axe in hand.

Inside the barn they were met with thousands of thin, hard to cut filaments hanging from every surface, like a super-strong spiderweb. Hacking their way to the center of the barn the group they saw a large hole in the ceiling. Beneath the hole, laying in the hay was a pulsating mass of pulpy white flesh the size of a pumpkin. The mass had what appeared to be the traces of a human face!

As the group approached it suddenly began rolling and extruding tentacles to pull itself away, spraying more of the filaments at the approaching men. They rushed the thing with sticks and farm implements and beat it to a blue-white paste.

I love this thing. It possessing a rudimentary face implies so many possibilities!

Was it a mimic just starting to take form, revealed by its poor choice of hiding spot? Or was it the remnant of some poor person, reduced to a blob of pulp through some unknown process?

The hole in the ceiling implies that it fell from a distance, it could have been an atmospheric beast that dropped to the ground. In that case, the human face could have been the remnants of a past meal visible through its transparent flesh.

Ooooor a passing Mi-go chucked a protomatter experiment out, not caring were it landed.
