I'm pretty sure that you meant the colour of darker shadingline to be #c19b26 instead of #8e721c . Β Aweswome tutorial anyway, thanks so much for making.

I'm using ms paint to keep your tut as simple as possible

I think copy/pasting would help ^^ But you have to turn on transparent selection to do thatΒ

Unfortunately I'm not quite sure on how it works with windows 7 paint, since i don't use it myself. But if you have a little tool like ColorPic (free) then it's easy to find all the colors you need.

What I'd like to know is, how do you accurately calculate the amount of pixels you should use for the space between the vertical lines? I've been trying to figure this out for 30 minutes now and whatever I do I don't end up with even spaces.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

vanmall In reply to justrob [2013-09-18 15:12:48 +0000 UTC]

If it makes it easier for you then you can use some kind of other color to help you and later erase it. For example paint 3-4 pixels (however wide you want your gap to be) with one color and after that use 1 pixel of other color. And then do it again if you know what I mean. And that way you can get even gaps.

Hey, I have a question. How can I change color on for example #8e721c in MS paint, because I can't choose color looking like this in tutorial??

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

vanmall In reply to patina4 [2012-06-20 17:21:31 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, I didn't think about it when I made this tutorial. One of the big downsides is that you can't work much with colors in MS Paint, that's why I'm using ColorPic just to help myself out with colors when I make pixel art in MS Paint.
But MS Paint uses Hex, so to get this same color on MS Paint then double click one of the colors on your color section and it should open another window where you can mix your own colors. Press "define custom color" and on the right side you will see a current color with a lot of fields where you have numbers in. Put these values - hue:45 sat:205 red:142 grn:114 blue:28 and it should work.

Done! I did it. It's really cool. I drew it all over.

As I use Paint, I discover Special trick to make the work faster: copy/paste.

I made the texture only once. After, I Copy, I put it aside, I remove what I don't want (the Drawing is in diagonal, and the copy catcher is flat), and I paste the texture for every bricks.

I felt like a genious drawing this, thanks.

For some reason, The time went from one star to five stars. But this tutorial is one of the best ones on the internet. I SWEAR.
How on earth did you do that thing for the roof? I can't figure it out.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

vanmall In reply to whombat30 [2012-03-14 13:25:42 +0000 UTC]

I see time as one star or do you mean the next tutorial after this one. And thank you.

I don't know how to really explain how I made this roof. Basically I did it in a same way as I did with all the textures, I just left some bigger caps. And I also lowered that center part of the roof so it would like an edge around the cube. I guess the best way to understand would be to download the tutorial, open it in microsoft paint or in some kind of similar program and zoom in. These are tutorials, that's why I have download links enabled on the right side of the page.

I hope it helped a bit.

It is really hard to explain it like this.
If you can then download the tutorial and open it in microsoft paint or something similar to that and zoom in. Easiest way to understand.
