I'm having the same issue
I'm using photoshop CS6 to do pixel art and all my png files gets kinda blurry, especially when zoomed in.

what happens if you had already saved it before knowing this and it's blurry, is their a way to un-blurry it?

ik this is super old, but there are gif resizing sites where you can do that. thats how i posted my icon so people could see it

vanmall In reply to roses-and-phantoms [2015-03-27 12:11:51 +0000 UTC]

I guess you simply have to zoom in, take a screenshot and go from there.

How can I download pixel art (I'm doing a pixel collab) without losing quality or making the pixels blurred?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

vanmall In reply to Cymat [2015-03-27 12:13:02 +0000 UTC]

Just right-click and save-as I guess. Because you shouldn't lose pixels when downloading.

This is only if you don't have advanced programs which save the image in a particular filetype format with no color reduction or blur.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

vanmall In reply to TheKeeblerGuy [2013-09-25 12:42:59 +0000 UTC]

This tutorial was made for MS Paint as at that time, when I posted this 4,5 years ago, many pixel artists were using MS Paint. So yeah, it's a bit different with photoshop for example.

In MS Paint when I either save it as a .png or re-size it the picture gets blurry and you can't really make out what it is instead of sharp edges.

Wasamonkey [2013-03-29 01:59:03 +0000 UTC]

IDK what software your using, but I've never seen a BMP do that unless it was indexed and switched to a different pallet. Also GIF works just fine if you stay within a 256 pallet. For true color however I agree, PNG is probably best for file/color/lossless.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

vanmall In reply to Wasamonkey [2013-03-29 08:21:41 +0000 UTC]

It was all done with microsoft paint, which at that time was quite popular program for pixel artists.

I want to post my pixel art onto deviantart, (so people can actually USE them, unlike .jpg or .jpeg) but it says I can't and it is saying something is wrong with my category, all I did was Digital Art>Pixel Art> Any of these> and then one or the other (Isometric or Non-Isometric) and it still won't let me post the pixel art, I have the pixel art at it's original size as when I first made it, (I also put the Color Palette on for some people) I have the border set so that it is 1 pixel away from the edge (where I cannot "paint") and I don't know whats wrong! I also don't know how to save it to a different file type.... I'm hopeless....

vanmall In reply to Raverect [2012-10-26 06:26:24 +0000 UTC]

What file format are you using right now?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Raverect In reply to vanmall [2012-11-04 01:27:52 +0000 UTC]

I am actually saving them as .JPEG images, so im not sure if that will exactly cover it, because I want people to be able to copy/paste my pixel art and use it, and the only current thing I have up right now is my griffin I made and that actually IS a .PNG image, but it took me a while to get it like that...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

vanmall In reply to Raverect [2012-11-04 11:57:48 +0000 UTC]

.jpeg can mess your pixel art colors up unfortunately.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Raverect In reply to vanmall [2012-11-04 22:17:13 +0000 UTC]

well, all the deviations I have up right now are all .PNG and I tried pasting them onto MS Panit and they worked out perfectly! I couldn't have done it without you! thanks a lot, now I can finally start posting more and more Deviantions here from my YouTube Channel!! (xXGameBoyIanXx) thanks!
