Pixel Art Tutorial Series is currently the most popular thing on my page. The idea behind this is to take suggestions from the community and try to make a tutorial out of these things, helping out fellow deviants along the way. You can also find my pixel art tutorials in groups like #TutorialsForYou , #TutorialsClub and #PixelCommunity .
Here is a list of tutorials in my Pixel Art Tutorial Series, tutorials which are underlined and bold are already ready tutorials that you can read, other tutorials without the underline are tutorials that will be posted in deviantART in near future.
You can also suggest new pixel art tutorial series by commenting on my profile page, on these tutorials or by sending me a note.

what happens if you had already saved it before knowing this and it's blurry, is their a way to un-blurry it?

I guess you simply have to zoom in, take a screenshot and go from there.

How can I download pixel art (I'm doing a pixel collab) without losing quality or making the pixels blurred?
π: 0 β©: 2
vanmall In reply to Cymat [2015-03-27 12:13:02 +0000 UTC]
Just right-click and save-as I guess. Because you shouldn't lose pixels when downloading.

This is only if you don't have advanced programs which save the image in a particular filetype format with no color reduction or blur.

This tutorial was made for MS Paint as at that time, when I posted this 4,5 years ago, many pixel artists were using MS Paint. So yeah, it's a bit different with photoshop for example.

In MS Paint when I either save it as a .png or re-size it the picture gets blurry and you can't really make out what it is instead of sharp edges.

IDK what software your using, but I've never seen a BMP do that unless it was indexed and switched to a different pallet. Also GIF works just fine if you stay within a 256 pallet. For true color however I agree, PNG is probably best for file/color/lossless.

It was all done with microsoft paint, which at that time was quite popular program for pixel artists.

I want to post my pixel art onto deviantart, (so people can actually USE them, unlike .jpg or .jpeg) but it says I can't and it is saying something is wrong with my category, all I did was Digital Art>Pixel Art> Any of these> and then one or the other (Isometric or Non-Isometric) and it still won't let me post the pixel art, I have the pixel art at it's original size as when I first made it, (I also put the Color Palette on for some people) I have the border set so that it is 1 pixel away from the edge (where I cannot "paint") and I don't know whats wrong! I also don't know how to save it to a different file type.... I'm hopeless....

What file format are you using right now?

Raverect In reply to vanmall [2012-11-04 01:27:52 +0000 UTC]
I am actually saving them as .JPEG images, so im not sure if that will exactly cover it, because I want people to be able to copy/paste my pixel art and use it, and the only current thing I have up right now is my griffin I made and that actually IS a .PNG image, but it took me a while to get it like that...

.jpeg can mess your pixel art colors up unfortunately.
