The beginning...
aka how to start with pixel art
After I got a Daily Deviation for How to make a victorian house? I decided to make a tutorial series about pixel art. As always you have to start from the beginning and this is it, tutorial about how to start with pixel art. As some of you don't have a photoshop then I decided to make this tutorial about pixel art and MS Paint. I hope you enjoy it.
If you think that you didn't understand this tutorial fully then you can always send me a note and I will answer to you.

Pixel Art Tutorial Series is currently the most popular thing on my page. The idea behind this is to take suggestions from the community and try to make a tutorial out of these things, helping out fellow deviants along the way. You can also find my pixel art tutorials in groups like #TutorialsForYou , #TutorialsClub and #PixelCommunity .
Here is a list of tutorials in my Pixel Art Tutorial Series, tutorials which are underlined and bold are already ready tutorials that you can read, other tutorials without the underline are tutorials that will be posted in deviantART in near future.
You can also suggest new pixel art tutorial series by commenting on my profile page, on these tutorials or by sending me a note.
Enjoy!

Windows 7 paint is quite bad for pixel art because they changed a lot of tools. GraphicsGale is a similar program but much better for pixel art, it is also free. So I would recommend it.

If you want to make pixel art with it then pen tool and line tool are the tools to use. Everything goes from there on.

Pixel is more of a computer term and you can create pixels in art form only with computer software.

Indeed it is. You just have to use your pen tool (or pencil, however it is called).

I am just starting with pixelsart, and this is very helpful! Thanks!
And to the person that asks about GIMP tutorials (Foreststone), I did this on GIMP, there is no difference, really.

Pretty awesome tutorial!
But as a totally newbie to paint etc I can't figure out how to get the eraser smaller than 4x4...
and how can I change the white background to transparent to get just the cube and not the whole white background with it?

What version of paint are you using?
What's your operating system?

Paint Version 6.2 (Build9200)
Operating System: Windows 8

This is the new paint that they introduced with windows 7, totally useless.
They took away most of the features that made it good for pixel art. So I think you can't make it smaller.
Also, paint doesn't support transparency. If you are into pixel art and are ready to learn a new program then I advice you to use GraphicsGale.
