Love this! Is commercial use allowed? I would like to use this to create some stationary for a client.

Sorry, no commercial use. If it's just for personal use you can do whatever you want with it.

I've thought about putting some of these up on a stock art site but I just haven't yet so I guess the answer is no, I don't sell a commercial license for these.

Hello! Just wanted to say, awesome lace pattern. I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to use it, though. I opened it under "Open Brush Library", "Other library", and opened the PDF file. The colors it's bringing up seem to be set in stone as the red, magenta, and yellowish... am I doing something wrong? I'm using CS4, thanks.

You can change the colors a couple of different ways. Since it's a pattern brush (with the stoke selected) you can click the brush options in the brush panel and select either "None, Tints, Tints and Shades or Hue Shift" That will change the colors based on the original stroke color and the colors of the brush. If you can't get the colors you want with that method you can drag the brush to the art board and recolor it and then drag it back to the brushes panel to create a new pattern brush with the new colors you selected. In that case just select "None" for the colorization method.
Hope that helps explain it.

Thanks, glad you could put it to use. If you use Illustrator us can use a mesh to distort the pattern to fit curved area like bent legs or arms. That looks better than a flat pattern.

I would kill for this in a format that would be compatible with Photoshop CS3. When I dream of lace, this is what I dream of.

You can use this in Photoshop by placing it as a smart object but using it as a repeating pattern brush is an Illustrator only feature.

perhaps i am doing something wrong, but when i try to download it comes up in pdf and says it cant display as the file wasnt saved pfd compatible?

vectorgeek In reply to NiqueAmrita [2009-03-22 23:35:04 +0000 UTC]
It was saved as a pdf ver 1.4 and CS2 compatibility for editing. All I can say is try to download it again. It's over 35mb so you'll need to give it time to download.

maybe does it have something to do with the fact i only have Illustrator 10?

That's probably it. It has a couple of CS only offset path effects in it but I can post a link of just the plain brush if you want.

Thanks man! Initial tests on the Emily piece look nice. Now I want to create a better tiling lace pattern. Those pattern swatches are even trickier because all 4 sides have to match up.
