I think cute can work on both of them but regardless of their preference, more people would use "cute" on Inez simply because she's younger and apply "pretty" to Jackie. To each their own however.

I also think I've hit on why so many fanworks make Matt the one to get into trouble (often potentially life-threatening trouble). It's in-character when it's a situation he walked into and when it's trouble he didn't initiate, it plays off his more athletic nature.

True. It's just most hotheaded boys don't regularly risk lethal trouble. And considering that it's heavily implied that Cybercitizens, including Hacker, are made of metal, permanent and possibly even lethal damage would be likely.
