There is one step missing. Have HUGE amounts of talent.

Thank you! Yes, I know there seems to be a little gap in between but the photos I took in between where so dark that I unfortunately couldn't use them for this tutorial. :/ But I'm trying to make the next one more complete/detailed. ^^

If I studied every tutorial from here tot eh end of time I could never match your ability. In the words of my mother, "Education is a poor substitute for talent." Mine are in other areas.

I have been drawing for 40 years and have never been this good. Some people just can't do it. That is what makes us unique and this is my philosophy about it. [link]
In the words of Charles Winchester, "All of my life I wanted to play piano, I could play the notes, but I could not make the music, for I did not have the gift."

That is true, however if you look at their other works of both writing and original character drawings, you'll see they DO have a lot of talent. Practise gives you skill, but true inspiration and creativity is talent.

StalkerNitro In reply to Perifae [2012-12-15 17:06:39 +0000 UTC]
Nope. Inspiration comes from the things that touches your heart and just makes you go wow or something like that, haha^^
creativity is the desire to creat, mostly something new and a special thing you like. But not only that. Creativity means TO CREAT. To creat something of what you have in your hands. Creativity in job. Creaitivity in art.
And so many other components builds up creativity. components like: personalty, things you like, things you don't like, things you see around you (means inspiration).
yus... and other than that, like knowledge of public, what people like, what people don't like. Social study and that kind of things. than learning what shapes and colors fit together and what may look good or bad or create a certain mood. well, creativity is a complex progress of learning and knowing. what has this to do with talent?

Talent is the aptitude from early on, it can be obtained through work, but being talented at something means you have a high skill. They're one and the same. I know from personal experience, I may not be good right now, but I am a billion times better from where I started off

StalkerNitro In reply to Perifae [2012-12-15 18:24:34 +0000 UTC]
I guess you have a wrong definition of talent. talent is something you are born with. and what you mean is constant practice.

Perifae In reply to StalkerNitro [2012-12-15 19:55:37 +0000 UTC]
... that's aptitude, please get it right.

StalkerNitro In reply to Perifae [2012-12-15 20:13:02 +0000 UTC]
so, but talent is no aptitude oรด
again, talent is something you are born with.
if you are a high "talented" artist, you should be able to draw high complex drawings right after you learned how to hold a pen.
than there wouldn't be a need of practice nor anything else.

There are pencils that are quite cheap and are still good to work with. I still have some school colored pencils that I like to use from time to time. Pencils aren't always expensive.

I have old old old ones that constantly break. But either way you look at it, to buy any sort of pencil, money is needed. I have nodda, zip, zilch, zero. So I have to resort to mechanical pencil in my portraits, which is all I have really. So what I've done, is on my other account under traditional

Incredible! And extremely helpful : ) I don't usually color in my drawings because I always end up ruining them (I'm not very good at coloring details so it makes it look very very bad :/ ) But this helped A LOT<3 Plus, Supernatural is my all-time favourite show and Sam is just- UGH perfect :d Love this~

Wow. How many hours did it take you, and how much $ would a commission run for something similar?

Verlisaerys In reply to OilLady [2012-11-29 22:11:05 +0000 UTC]
Thank you for your interest. <3 I really can't remember how much time I've spend on this drawing but it must have been at least 15 hours. I've never considered offering portraits as a commission because I usually use them for practice only. That's also why I haven't thought about prices yet. But I might add them to my list when I'm opening commissions again.
