Description
It's so huge, oh my god.As a disclaimer, I want you to know that I do not think that I am really good enough to be teaching anybody anything, but some people were curious about how I go about things, so please don't think of this as a RIGHT way.
I don't really think there totally is a RIGHT way anyhow, if you can get something to work for you, then it works for you! BLAM!
Hope it's semi-helpful.

Awesome! I was wondering how you achieved all those neat color transitions. The Magic Wand tool's my best friend, too.
I'm a little unnerved by the Color Balance tool, though; usually, the results end up worse than their predecessors...

Stop being so hard on yourself! My brain is not rotting, it is flourishing! I never thought to use the pencil tool, but looking at it, the hard pixelated line keeps the paint bucket tool from leaving that semi-transparent line around the inside of the outline that you get when you use the paint brush tool (this has bugged me FOREVER, because if I ever put any of my pictures on a dark or brightly colored background, you could see it through the picture!)
I am an uber cheater when it comes to photoshop, too. But I have this thing about consistent line thickness (in my art, not yours! Yours is awesome), so I have kind of turned into a pen tool wizard.
Now I'm off to go fight Voldemort with my pen tool skills *is shot repeatedly* (I'm also a bad jokes/puns wizard :3 )

Waii Amaaazing~ Do you ever do anything in traditional media? I'm trying to get into comic drawing and thus far I have little more than bits of bristol, sumie ink and a watercolour brush...

this is great, i always admired your style of gradient shading. It's good of you to share your technique (i'm really not so practiced at photoshop) but i have a biiiiig assignment i need to colour and impliment digitally so this has provided me with some insight into ways i can experiment with colouring. (don't worry, i won't try and rip you off) I'm a big fan of your style btw. its awesome.

Holy crap, why didn't I like of using squares/sharp pointed outlines rather than circles and ovals? I've been having so much trouble with forming my humans (i'm still in practice) and when I used a square as the head base it made things soooo much easier.

I've realized lately that what I've been calling "cheating" [which you also call cheating] is actually a kind of mastery of the medium... I recently got a how-to-draw-and-paint-sci-fi-type book by Doug Chiang and I was shocked to see that he used the dodge and burn tools as well as lighting effects! =O Apparently the professionals use these tools too. So give yourself a break. You aren't cheating... you've just mastered some of the tricks of the 'shop.

I find these kinds of tutorials endlessly fascinating. My style, at this point, is such a mess of tips and tricks that I've hacked off of other artists.
For instance, I've been staring at your lines for days now (because I am a stalker) and trying to figure out how you got your look. I had concluded that you ink with a pen on paper and scan it in, but LO! It is infinitely more sophisticated and impressive. And I thought my brushes palette was so fancy.
Of course, what makes you so fantastic is hardly your pencil brush and overlay layers. ;D

Primo, I adore your style, it's soo awesome.
Second primo, you inspired me to start out my own comic, well, the idea of me making it is pretty gross, but I think I could cope. Not as good as you, but at least...
Third primo! And the main thing, because the previous ones surley made you fell asleep. How do you apply the textures so you have them where you want, they have the right colour and are not interfering with the rest of drawing details?

O_O I am mostly impressed by tha fact that you have PATIENCE to work like that. I flip after two minutes when I use that kind of inking/coloring.
And I got to give you credit, because your work is AWESOME and I really love the way you color and ink. And if overlays are cheating, then I know many artists who do nothing but cheat. xD
Keep up the wonderful art!
And I want Conrad's shirt. <_<
