I LOVE you. It is SO hard to get it to look natural. This definitely helps--I never even considered the differences between venous and arterial bleeding!

Wow, I thought I was the only one who actually cared about arteries and viens.

PeaceKnight In reply to verticalfish [2012-07-14 05:22:24 +0000 UTC]
The walls of the arteries are thicker than the viens as when the heart pumps oxygen-rich blood into the arteries, it has a lot of pressure. The viens are more on the outside while the arteries are more on the inside as so to protect the arteries. If a vien is cut, there is no worries. When an artery is cut, sayonara to you. (That is pretty much all I've learnt during science in school.)

Thank. I think the note on arterial vs venous bleeding was the most helpful. It's a nice reminder about anatomy.

In the tutorial you mentioned that people can bleed from the ears or eyes.... for what reason in a manga would a person bleed from their eyes, besides a drastic pressure change or gouging?

verticalfish In reply to secretuniverse [2012-07-12 22:03:05 +0000 UTC]
Well... you pretty much summed it up. A drastic pressure change from a certain attack can make people's eara drums rupture, causing them to bleed from the ears. Blood from the nose suggests damage to the nasopharynx (which is relatively benign), but coughing up blood could mean that there's blood in the GI tract, caused by damage to internal structures. BLood from the eyes... other than gouging, the only think I could think of is... mangekyo sharingan? LOL

Cool. But what is true colour of venous blood?
I knew it was darker but i didn't knew it turned red after being exposed to air.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
verticalfish In reply to AliceSacco [2012-07-12 18:14:41 +0000 UTC]
It's dark red. Blood is always red, it just turns from dark to bright red when exposed to oxygen. It looks blue through the skin because of the Tyndall effect, which has to do with the way the wavelength (and color) of light changes when it passes through the skin, which has a large refractive index.
