Description When all the sand on all the beaches has washed away,
When all the mountains have turned to dust,
When all the stars in the sky have faded,
Then know that a single day of eternity has passed.

It is plenty of time to painfully realize how many ways you have hurt those close to you, and how you seem able to carry on even while knowing you'll never be able to make amends for those wrongs.

*

This would have been just another gray sketch. I thought I'd try quickly adding some color. I've spent quite a bit more time on this than I intended to. But I've spent not nearly as much time as I could have. In fact, I suppose you could say I could sit here and keep 'touching up' the image forever.

This idea took hold in my mind and this was literally the only way to appease it.

Pro-tip: Do not bite your own tail.

The lighting on this is really great, makes a simple image into a powerful one.Β  Β Know how you feel about eternal touch-ups-- There's always something that could be just a little bit better, just a little bit different, isn't there?Β  But one must eventually stop.

Thank you. Yes, it's hard to let go and declare it's done. But, too much other stuff to work on!

There have been so many.

No doubt there are many more that I can't remember.

This work very much struck me and I can so well relate to the message behind it...
It's beautiful how the colors work together along with the lights... The emotions are so very striking. Truly well done!

Thank you very much, Iskisdra!
I'm glad you can relate. It means I've done something right. For my information, would you be able to tell me which emotions you feel from this one? Or just what it feels like to you? I'd like to know this to see if I've got it drawn right and/or where I can improve.

I feel a lot of that pain and sorrow from it, and with biting the own tail, the self-judgement and doubt, confusion and feeling lost. That deep sadness from the crying eyes for not being able to make amends. The bleeding itself reminds me of how our own inner energies are bleeding out and wasted if we keep hanging in the past...
The way the other eyes are opened, though, makes me think of... the determination and desire to move on, grow stronger. That inner strength that starts to spark up eventually and help you to learn from the lessons provided.
I feel that may be it..! I hope it may help along!

Thank you. It's pretty good compared to what I intended. So I see where to improve or try something else next time.

Aaah, and this is completely unrelated but I also want to wish you a happy birthday! I'm not sure if your birthday is MY tomorrow or YOUR today, but I hope you have a nice one this year. Take a nice long bath, treat yourself to some good food, and may you have a great day!

Don't bite my tail, note taken! I definitely agree with your message behind this one, sometimes it can be hard to carry on after we've hurt somebody and lost them. I know that I've pushed away one too many friends and maybe even family, but I carry on knowing that it was either for the good of one of us-- or just a part of life. Parting with others is just another part of walking our walk in the cycle, so to say!

(Forgiveness, both for others and yourself, goes a long way. "Forgiveness frees you", I believe. <3)

Anyways, wow this is such a beautiful picture! The color caught my attention instantly, and I think in the end it's what makes this picture so delicious: the brilliant blue eyes against the dark gold, the blood, and the strange blue/green/red dots which make me really curious. The shading looks great too! My favorite part is also the eyes, because there's so much expression in them! The outer eyes squint in pain, while the central one gazes straight at us-- anger? Fear? A deeper pain? There's a lot going on here, and it's very moving. I don't normally leave comments without at least a little bit of critique, but or this one I honestly don't have any. You did a great job overall, Vex! I love this!

Thank you very much. Β Arg! I see so many things I feel I wanted to do better. Some lines are too strong. Some lines are too wobbly. Some colors are not following the lines properly... ehh, looking at all these things I feel I could have done better. Still I'm very happy with how it came out.

Thanks for telling me what you see in the expression. It helps me determine to what extent the image conveys the feeling I wanted to give it.

Hurt is part of life. In many cases it's a path to greater strength. But there is also the pointless kind of pain. The kind that's just suffering and, if it's not outright destructive, it certainly doesn't contribute to anything. If you've got an eternity of time to spend, you'll be no stranger to both of these.

Aah, I sort of see the things you mention there, but not enough to have noticed at first glance. I think it looks great! We've got digital lines and digital coloring and shading here, and it stands out beautifully. I think it's the message and expression that seals the deal... sometimes when there's a good message behind a piece, it truly shines.

Hurt's a part of life, amen amen! Sometimes it can really break you down, especially if it keeps on coming. But there's a saying that I really like, and I've started embracing it in recent years:"We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey". What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!
