It took me a while to figure out that in panel four he's being slapped by that hand. Β The position of the hand doesn't read as a slap (why are we viewing the palm?) Β Some sense of motion, either with the skin bunched up on the cheek, or the face otherwise distorted, and, perhaps, speed lines of some sort trailing the hand, or a blur effect on the edges of the hand . . . or something to show that the hand is moving and has made impact on the face. Β You put the effect in the word balloon, so we know there is a shout. Β And we know there is a slap-smack because of the giant word S M A C K at the top of the panel. Β But the visual slap is completely missing.

Yeah, it's a flawed panel. I tried showing motion with the earrings and head tentacles but it ended up too subtle. I see these in color drawing them and the inks don't always pull it through, because it should read in BnW even if that isn't the finished product. I was thinking about adding speed lines (good call) I'll see how the colors work and think about it. Thanks for the critique
