Description
Pattern page one: [link]Pattern page two: [link]
You'll need 1/3 yard of material, matching thread, and the usual sewing equipment (scissors, thread, etc). Machine not required - I sew everything by hand. This makes an 8-inch tall pony, but the pattern can also be enlarged or shrunk; adjust material requirements accordingly.
This is as simple as I can make the pattern and still have it look decent! Anyone who can knows the basics of sewing will be able to use this.
If you don't know how to backstitch or ladder stitch, there are several tutorials here on DA and on YouTube.

The sparkle fur I ordered from mendels.com, all the other long pile fur I get from Ever After Fabrics on etsy.com - she sells small cuts that are perfect for ponys, while other places you usually have to buy at least a yard.

hi, im wanting to make one, but i'm really confused about the bit where you cut a weird hold on it's belly.. why is that?

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to CSINorman [2012-11-09 00:34:14 +0000 UTC]
That serves two purposes - one, that's the hole you turn it right side out through. Two, it draws the legs inward so the plush stands upright.

Hey there,
I made a pony using this pattern, but I"m not sure it turned out like it was supposed to.
[link]
I feel like my pony is came out so skinny.
The ponies in your sample pic doesn't look so skinny.
I was slightly confused with the belly part, but I"m pretty sure I did it right.
What do you think?

It looks like you may have cut directly on the line when you cut out the hole in the belly piece.

Catzilerella In reply to Voodoo-Tiki [2012-11-03 17:26:44 +0000 UTC]
Ohhh, I sewed on the line and cut right above it. I sewed like the shape of the belly cut out part leaving a like dimple on the ends of where I have sewn once turned over. Doh. Was I supposed to sew in a straight line? Down the center belly?

I'm working on making my 3rd pony now, thanks to your patterns. I think it's amazing that you're putting these up for free, not asking anything, just for people to enjoy. Of course, mine don't get nearly as cool as some of the ones people sell for $200 (my sewing isn't perfect, and I don't have an embroidery machine) but they're hand-made by me, and that means a lot. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Great tutorial and are you using felt for it?

Voodoo-Tiki In reply to inferno-000 [2012-09-04 05:20:59 +0000 UTC]
I'm using fleece - felt is stiffer and tends to show the stitches too much for my taste.

I am planning to use this pattern for my first ever attempt at a plushie. My daughter is wanting a Princess Celestia. In all of the pics of other plushies and art she seems to have a differant nose then the ponys, being bigger. If you were making one would you still use the same nose like in the pattern or something close to the stallion nose on your pattern. Thanks in advance
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Voodoo-Tiki In reply to Irrumater [2012-08-31 19:08:27 +0000 UTC]
I think something closer to the stallion nose would look right. I'm working on a "alicorn" pattern that's more complicated than this one but uses the same sort of 4-part head. If you want to take a look, it's up on my tumblr here: [link]
