Description Ladies and Gentlemen, give it up for Ham "Never Been Hugged By A Robot Child Before" Egg.

This is my first LAB fanart. I rather like how it turned out. I'm usually lazy with backgrounds, but I decided to add some actual buildings this time.

I don't know what he's thanking him for. But in the episode I was inspired from, Ham offers to help Astro in some way. Maybe he helped him find a clue.

We need more hero/villain friendship art. There's one other person who drew fanart of these two, but they deactivated years ago.

Universe collapse, after this! ^_^
Maybe Hamegg can offer Atom some help in order to be left alone by him. If he tells a good clue, the boy will leave him soon...

Haha, good one!
That is true. Hamegg seems to not know what he should do! xD He does ask, "Can I help you?" in a somewhat irritated tone. So maybe he'd rather help him to get it over with, than to constantly be bothered by little Astro.

In all his versions, Hamegg seems to hate, openly hate, all robots, and in particular he finds Atom irritating. In the original story, Hamegg was the ringmaster of a robot circus, where Atom was the star... but a reluctant one, so, he did not always obeyed his ringmaster's orders.
I think Hamegg's ideal robot-circus is a place of not-talking machines that beat each other, in a show that makes him rich.
This kid who thinks on his own, can only make him angry.
I personally hate Hamegg, but I can comprehend his point of view.

At least Hamegg wasn't so evil in the LAB series.
Indeed, the original Hamegg was horrible. He seemed to find pleasure in torturing Atom, all because he's a machine.
I could understand how he thinks too. If the machines become intelligent, they'll rebel, and if they rebel, it's all over for humans. But he seems to find no remorse about hurting such a human child-like robot. So we hate him, because he hurts those he has power over and are defenseless against him.
He was never my favourite character either, but I will admit I like his character design. He's fun to draw.

I never watched any episode of Little Astro Boy series, and I tried, to tell you the truth. I could not go over the first two notes of the opening... I am a bit too serious about my heroes. Plus, my first series has been the 1980 one, the most dramatic and nerve-breaking ever, so this feature is still present in my imagination, even if many years passed and I watched many of the next versions of the story.
So, Hamegg is not all bad in this version, isn't he? That's cool. Personally I don't like all bad or all good characters, they seem a bit "2 D", not really deep. On the other hand, in real world, all bad people DO exist, so I don't want to claim the right to correct anything.
The problem with the old Hamegg (original comic, 1963 and 1980 series, the ones in which there's the old fashioned robot circus) was that he did not care about any of his robot employees as they were only machines to him. If you told something about the fact he maltreated Atom or some other of his stars, he may have laughed at you, saying things like: "I am not maltreating anybody, as this is no more not less than a TV or a fridge!"
He did not see how human Atom was; he is not hust an imitation: he answers and respond almost like a human, he has got slef-consciousness. He's not human, but he's a person. This pushes some people to deep thinking, but not Hamegg.
Even doctor Ochanomizu/O'Shea/Elefun, in his many versions, tried to talk with him, and failed.
On the other hand, Atom is not meant to hurt any human, even if this human hurts him. He could kick him on the stratospehere in few seconds, but he doesn't. In the original story, he just obeyed that order, because he thought it was the right thing to do; in another version, instead, it was his father that blocked his free will with a terrible device, which gave him an elettroshock in case he tried to escape the circus.

In LAB version who is Hamegg, exactly?

In LAB, he never owned Atom. (That's the main, most important thing.) Hamegg seems annoyed by him, but not nearly to the extent of the original series. It's never explained why he doesn't like Astro, just that he doesn't like him and tries to thwart his plans. He's sort of a goofy antagonist, and he owns pig-shaped planes. His two sidekicks like to insult and disrespect him.

Astro tries to be his friend sometimes, but he never accepts this friendship. Maybe he wants to, but his pride prevents him. So we'll never know...

Uhm... so he's a funny enemy, not really dangerous.
I can't tell I prefer the old bad one, but he seemed more real to me. That's why I don't think I will watch anything from Little AstroBoy series.
In my ideas, Atom deserves real fights, real enemyes and real friends, to show the world how marvelous and well-made he is.
And, what about his creator? In this LAB series, where is doctor Tenma?

Yeah, it was made as a preschool show, so more serious fans may not like it much.

Dr. Tenma doesn't appear at all in the show. Though, I did see a fanart of him in the LAB style.
