...It's finally done. There was so much pencil to clean up on this one.
Anyway!
Here is the resulting chase from my previous picture. Mokuba tries to get revenge on Noah, but Noah makes a swim for it! Three people suggested I should add bubbles to the picture (my mom, my long-lost uncle, and a friend), so I went ahead and did that. I must say, I like the result! The friend also suggested I should make Mokuba's necklace "float" because water is dense and all that. It was a little late to redraw the hair, but I like the buoyancy effect. Another trick I just learned is to put very light green over a "burn" layer, which added a brightness to the pic I wouldn't have acheived otherwise.
Watch out, Noah! Moki's gonna get you!
Since I've made a series of pics based on Mokuba being a merboy, it only makes sense I should write out an AU for it. Prince Mokuba was very happy in his underwater realm living with his brothers, Seto and Noah. One day he went to the shore and met a human girl named Shizuka/Serenity. He wanted to go meet her and her family in the human world, but he couldn't, being a mer-boy. So he went to see Pegasus, the sea-witch, and asked him to make him human. Being a trickster, Pegasus instead turned Serenity into a mermaid. Oh dear. Can Mokuba explain this to the girl? Will she see her brother Joey again? What will Seto say now that he knows Mokuba's been talking to humans? ... It's like the Little Mermaid movie, except backwards, and with 10 000% more puns!

and yes, always add bubbles!! bubbles everywhere in all different sizes. they help add depth when u layer them over the characters. i'd make them a bit bigger, but u need small bubbles too, just also add some bigger ones and have all diff sizes, and small ones overlapping with big ones and stuff
and oh yes, i luv filters and layering colors over stuff and such

That's true! It was a pain when inking because the pen wanted the bubbles to become more equal in size while I'm like: 'nuuuuuuuu D: There need to be both small and medium sized bubbles!' But yeah I might try bigger bubbles added in next time.
It's fun to experiment with digital art and find out all the different tricks you can use.
He'd totally be a sea-witch, and proud of it!
Thanks! It's surprising that I was able to achieve close to the same colours as before because I used a totally different shading method this time.

they have "duel disk" shirts with like the KC logo and everything like an official product design or something on the official site and i want one but i'm afraid it'll just fade so i'd have to hang it up and never wear it :/ doesn't seem worth it for that, i tend to wear layered stuff where u can't see whats on my shirt anyway so not even special occasions would work. would make more sense to buy somethig i can set on my desk

for a long time they never did anything for bakura. they would do marik now and then but mostly only just for Ra not because he was actually an improtant character, and then once it got to the point that it was well known yugi had all the gods marik pretty much just disappeared
bakura was done pretty strange. he's the main antagonist of the series and i don't mind how he was kinda just in the background all along and then the big reveal "oh HE'S behind everything!" but they didn't set it up very well. it's more like they didn't really know what to do with him and then when came time to end the series and wrap up all the characters, like kisara they suddenly got an aidea 'oh let's take this guy and....' it doesn't really feel like it was set up all along since the beginning. like the thing at the very beginning where he was trapping ppl in rpgs, come on, lol. that has nothing to do with gathering up all the items, and sometimes it did "kinda" feel sort of "u keep this for me now, i'll collect them in the end' but... usually just seemed like he was just randomly there doing whatever he wanted
having him revealed at the end to be the main character's true opponent made it odd that u NEVER see any official merch stuff for him ( and extra odd the anime cut him out of most places where he was there in the manga ). but for merch stuff i dont think they ever even made a bakura deck and only recently finally got aroudn to making a figure of him and the series is long OVER by now lol. is usually just kaiba, so an outsider would think kaiba is the series' main antagonist. not that i mind tho cuz i freaking love kaiba e0e the other day just kidna piled all of my kaiba stuff on my bed so i could roll in it :'D * cough *

Yes! Most of the stuff is based on the new movie, though. They have his redesign on most of the merch, but on one pin thingy they used his original design. ^^
Hmm, that's very strange. Especially when you consider Bakura's hella popular with fangirls! They'd buy pretty much anything with him on it! And he's a rather popular character to cosplay too. I saw a Millenium Ring being sold on Etsy and the cosplayers gave it really good reviews. Strange that the company that sells YGO merch would bypass such a popular antagonist...
And regular Bakura is even more ignored. They didn't even put the little guy in the Duel Links game! ;-;

last night i suddenly wanted to make my own deck. i haven't done that in like years. we have heaps of cards and since i just had to hve those pretty kaiba boxes and the structure deck and stuff just cuz he was on it, we have 9 BLUE-EYES WHITE DRAGONS NOW! OMG like, can make three decks out of them xD
back before back in the day there was only the 3 and so u had to pick between a kaiba deck or a light deck or a dragon deck etc and well of course they had to go in kaiba's deck
NOW I CAN DO THEM ALL. MWAAAHAHAHAHAHHAA -scatters them on the floor and rolls in them-
but anyway yeh the thing with xenosaga is there is so MANY characters in that game and so many cool ppl and it's turn-based so there is like, 7 or something characters, and u arrange them in a party of 3 picking whoever u want etc, then scores of NPCs. the most popluar characters in that game are the guys. there is some really neat stories and characters. the three or four most popular guys are usually what's gonna come up in googles along with kosmos/shion the main girls. BUT, when they make figures of it, the rights or whatever is by those "sexy girl figure" companies. they will ONLY model the girls. soooo yeh kosmos is the mascot and all that'sf ine, shion is the main character for the most part i guess so that's fine, even tho the story deliberately brnaches off away from her to focus on each other others in turn...and thent hey model t-elos. who is only in the third game, and is one of the villains. she's.... not really that important. but when u look at the other figures those companies make its all just sexy girls, u know how they like, are in sexual poses and whatnot. they're really pretty and really nice quality but that's the theme, just sexy girls. they NEVER mold any of the men. it really sucks :/ cuz i'ts like... it's not made for xenosaga fans, it's made ofr ppl who just collect hot anime girls :/ it really hate that. it's such an in-depth philosophical kinda game, all this complex stuff and so on, and then gets reducded to just hot girl figures. ugh. :/

I'd love to see Junoichi/Joey's sister as a mermaid. She's so precious, just like Mokuba. 10,000 percent more puns? Sounds like an episode of Spongebog Squarepants meets Phineas and Ferb. Seto WILL be mad when he finds out his precious little brother has been sneaking glimpses of humans, and what will his adopted brother Noah say about all this?

True, Seto won't approve of what Mokuba did. Seto's a protective brother/parent, but who can blame him with the amount of times his brother gets kidnapped? Those pesky humans probably have a fish hook waiting for him... Noah will probably be curious and want to see the human world too, but be more hesitant about it when he sees Seto get mad at Mokuba for it.

You could argue the same about the 4kids dub of Pokemon (Generations 1 - 4) and of One Piece (back when it was owned by 4kids), and the DiC and Cloverway versions of Sailor Moon. Puns and failed attempts at cultural reference translation aplenty in all instances.
Seto doesn't want his only brother snared by those barbarians' hooks. He's already fought so hard to keep them together when their own father wanted nothing to do with them. The last thing he needs is a fish-eating land-dweller after Mokuba. I'm guessing he doesn't see Noah too much as his brother yet, as they are not related by blood and have had less time to form a relationship. And of course, there's the fact that Noah was the main antagonist of the filler arc where Yugi, Seto and company were transported into a virtual reality duelist world. I would be reluctant to trust him for obvious reasons as well.
