Alright, time for Kovu and Vitani's father! I have a lot of story involving him.
Name: Umoja (U-moja) [Swahili, meaning: Unity]
Parents: Tofali and Kuishi
Mate: Unataka/Scar
Surrogate mate: Zira
Children: Kovu and Vitani
Siblings: Chumvi (younger brother) Kula (younger sister)
Voice Headcanon: Ben Lepley (Dedue from Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

Umoja's father was a rogue who happened to be Ahadi's childhood best friend before Ahadi was betrothed to Uru of the Pridelands. Many years later it was during the dry season Umoja's mother gave birth to him and became very weak. His father recalled the once place they would be safe; the Pridelands. Umoja's father requested for only Kuishi and cub to join the pride because he would continue on as a rogue, Ahadi accepted Tofali's request.

Once meeting the other cubs of the pride, he really felt like the odd one out. It wasn't until he caught the cubs teasing a young Unataka(Scar), when playing a game of King of Pride Rock and knocking the dark prince off. Umoja charged in and tackled down Mufasa who was currently the King of Pride Rock, taking the spot saying anyone can be king. Unataka was used to the bullying at this point but he never experienced someone defending him in such a manner, followed by Umoja inviting him to play just with him.

This began the cycle of his time in the pridelands, being that Umoja never understood the rules of the pridelands. He never understood why lions were so quick to blame others on things that had logical reasons to. He didn't understand why the hyenas were banished from the pridelands over a petty conflict when everyone has to eat all the same. He would cover for Unataka when he would go play with the hyenas. When anyone asked where the prince was Umoja would say they are playing hide and seek, fake playing so no one would know the truth.

As seasons past, their bond grew. Umoja views sadly gave validation to Unataka's emotions were growing in jealousy and despair against his family. Once Unataka was old enough to become leader of the Lion Guard Umoja was the first to be asked to take part only for him to decline. Umoja simply said he would rather be Unataka's guard, not the pridelands. Unataka loved the idea of him being Umoja's number one priority and accepted his decline to being in the guard. Their relationship would be considered as mates. Though they weren't equals as Umoja fed into Unataka's desire to feel superior to all. He would be king one day, he deserves it more, Umoja agrees!

Then the incident involving the Strange Lion, Ajabu, who put a scar across Unataka's face happened. (I have a modified story to all that, but that'll be told later) Umoja was furious with rage, for someone to manipulate and physically harming the dear prince, he asked Unataka what he would like to do. That night they went out to get revenge. They ended up walking in on a very harsh scene, Ajabu physically abusing a young lioness. Letting loose of the boiling rage Unataka attacked Ajabu right as he was about to strike the lioness again, Umoja following behind assuring the strange lion couldn't lay a claw on his prince.

As Ajabu's final breaths faded Scar looked over to the trembling lioness in the corner. Her name was Zira. Her ear with a fresh chunk missing and blood drizzling down her face, she looked up to her hero in awe. Over and over she thanked Unataka for doing what she desperately wished for. Umoja assured Unataka was the one being praised; for saving a sister pride Ahadi should have done ages ago. Before parting ways Unataka made a promise to the lioness, once he becomes king Zira and her lionesses would become part of the pridelands. To him it was easy territory that would be all his and would have loyal followers to do any hard work.

After that difficult situation, Unataka set up a plan to frame his fellow Lion Guard members as they were a threat to his future goals. Umoja's part in the plan was to get Amani, who was Mufasa's best friend, to come and help save Unataka as an alibi. When the two arrived, they saw Unataka cornered covered in bite and claw marks, while the other lions had none. Amani unaware of the true reason why the guard was attacking. When the fastest began to pounce, Unataka used the Roar against his own kind. If it were not for Umoja bringing Amani, no one would have believed their ruse. With the trusted words of Amani and Umoja statements, despite the guard's pleas for the royal family to hear their side, Uru declared the lions of the Guard exiled for all the laws broken. After this tragic day, Unataka went by the name Scar. A scar in Prideland history.

Tragedy struck the pridelands in a heartbreaking loss of their beloved King Uru and Ahadi. This didn't affect Umoja until Mufasa took the throne as King. Tensions were high between the two princes, Scar and Mufasa arguing daily from guilt and grief. One day things went too far; Scar and Mufasa were having a physical fight between one another, to Umoja's eyes Mufasa hit first. Before Mufasa could strike his claws again upon Scar, Umoja jumped in tackling the king down followed by a heavy bite. He only bit once, getting off to protect Scar. He attacked the king. This caused the lionesses to uproar and followed by Mufasa to exile Umoja.

Umoja plead it was to defend his mate, only to then realize Mufasa was oblivious to the fact they were even mates. It didn't matter to Mufasa or the pride, an attack on the king is immediate Exile. Umoja promised Scar he would stay within pridelands reach, so that when one day Scar becomes King, he will return by his side. Scar was heartbroken at the exile of his mate, causing his hatred for Mufasa to skyrocket. He already blamed Mufasa for the loss of their parents and now he lost his partner. Seasons passed and Scar's desires grew. His parents are dead, his friends are starving in the elephant graveyard and now his mate is gone. There are ways to rule this kingdom and Mufasa isn't doing anything right.

Skip to many years later leading to the events of killing Mufasa, Scar request his new lioness squad lead by Zira to find Umoja. Zira would do anything for her idol, and this was a task to prove her dedication. They later found Scar's lost mate and brought him back to the pridelands. Scar praised Zira in a manipulating way followed by a welcomed embrace with his dear Umoja. He was never informed the truth of how Scar became king, told like everyone else it was a mere accident. It had been so long since his exile, he wasn't aware of how far Scar had spiraled out of control. Yet he would still defend Scar on things that were not his fault. The drought was not Scar's fault, this is the same as when he was a cub. The hyenas are eating the share they need to live. Lions once again blaming others for things in nature.

Time passed and the idea sparked to Scar that he would need a heir to the throne. Despite being with Umoja, the two were able to find a willing candidate to be a surrogate; Zira. Scar and Zira then had Nuka, the disappointment runt that would NEVER be his heir. Zira begged they could try again, this time with the heir he desires, but Scar refused to do such an act again with her. Umoja stepped in as the willing partner for Zira, both would assure Scar gets what he desires. Soon the pride's complaints for water were too much for Scar. Umoja and the outlanders were to leave in search of water, so Scar could continue his rule over priderock. Zira would come along too in hope of getting her fresh water and food along the way for the future prince. Umoja assured them everything would be alright, as the heavy clouds were sure to bring rain.

Then Simba was to return...

Far away on their search for water with the Outlanders Umoja and the lionesses found themselves in trouble. Rogues and not just any rogues but Scar's former lion guard. They were well aware of Umoja and the lionesses status with the mad king who they blamed all this bad luck on. Umoja knew both Zira and Nuka had to escape, for the sake of Scar's pride. He was at least healthier than the starving rogues, giving him an advantage. Whispering Zira quickly his plan, letting out a mighty roar he charged at the rogues. The lionesses all began to flee, Zira and Nuka protected by the others. This was where Umoja would meet his end, for his King and future cubs.

The battle ended with everyone having horrible wounds. They all would die here. As he let out his last breaths it then began to rain. Just as Umoja said it would.

I'M SORRY THERE'S SO MUCH. I won't be doing a comic but I plan to do drawings with fanfic chapters following in the descriptions. So I wanted to say all of it now for those who might be interested in the final story. I know it's not that popular to have Scar be gay but I have this as my headcanons for to why Kovu is Scar's heir despite not being his blood. He is the child of Scar's mate, they were to have Kovu as their own if things went as planned. This is why Zira is adamant about Kovu being Scar's cub. She never was close with Umoja but Kovu and Vitani were going to be Scar's cubs.

Umoja isn't evil. To him Scar isn't entirely evil either. Umoja thinks the hyenas deserve to live with everyone else and says the drought wasn't Scar's fault. Yet he also wouldn't be happy knowing how Scar was treating the lionesses and cubs of the pride. Scar made sure he wasn't aware of those things.
