Little things about Moira's design tended to be a little inconsistent in the earlier pages (like her bag and the length of her sleeves) so I made a reference for myself to follow when drawing her - and then I figured, heeeyyyy, let's make it a little fancier and put it up here! c:>
It took TWO. DAYS. Of 'fancying' before this looked remotely suitable for dA. Hahaha. If you look carefully at the last three headshots, you'll see they're done in pencil - those are the original sketches from my own personal ref sheet, which had to be scanned in.
The text was originally written with Donahue's voice in mind - which is why it seems a little odd in places. OTZ Halfway though I decided it was best to be a formal as possib;le with this thing. Whoops! I hope you can read my handwriting though - it has a habit of going UP and DOWN.
Moira's crucifix (they do exist in Burning Bridges, although Donny doesn't exactly understand what they symbolize) is worn under her clothes and is never taken off, even in the shower. You can see it clearly when she's not wearing anything to cover it, like in a dress: [link] [link]

This is a very nice reference sheet! Moira's a great character, and there was a lot of interesting, new information on this sheet. I like small details such as the fact that she plays the violin and wears a crucifix. Speaking of which, is she religious and how's Christianity in the Pokemon world?

Moira is a lasped Catholic, and she's about as religious as a G-rating will allow (aka not very much at all). But her faith is a big part of her character, even though it's not part of the plot.
I typed out a really long reply, but it seemed so long and self-indulgent. ;m; Still there's really no other way to explain it, so prepare for a wall of text, woman!
You can split religion in Kanto into two - most humans are Christian (including all the subsets that implies), and pokemon adhere strictly to the Polytheistic Church of Arceus. Since our moral system comes from our religion (thou shall not kill, honour thy father and mother, etc.) pokemon have a slightly different moral code than humans do. The concepts of 'property' is pretty alien to them - they don't see what's the problem with stealing, some aren't averse to killing (or at least many of them don't feel remorse when they do it) and others can't experience emotions like loneliness or regret.
They do, however, believe in being happy with their lot. Unlike humans, many pokemon don't try climbing social ladders, earning money, or aspiring to be anything other than what they are - they are happy the way they are, and their religion tells them it's the best possible way. I was asked a looong time ago about why pokemon, if they were smart as humans and treated like a 'second class', didn't feel the need to overthrow people and that's pretty much the answer I gave them - it's religion. xD
Religion's not a big part of the plot, but it lays the foundation for the society that affects everything in the plot.

It doesn't make a very big difference, since religion doesn't even play a part in the plot - but Moira and her mother are Catholic.

Religion itself isn't a part of the plot, and likewise, Moira herself isn't shown bothering with religion either. Still, I believe a person doesn't exactly have to be pious to wear the cross.

That's true, you don't have to be religious at all to wear a cross...I don't usually see a lot of non-christans with a crucifix since it's specifically a Christan symbol whereas a cross doesn't have to be. (that's just been my experience with it.) It just piqued my curiosity a little...that's all.
