I wonder if sentient robots can learn to make their own choices about which maintenance connections to accept rather than abiding by the registration codes that are officially designated as valid by their manufacturer, or if it's just one of those things where base programming always wins? (I wonder if there's something in there to lock out any maintenance unit that presents too many expired or otherwise invalid registration codes in a row? That could be annoying, especially if registration code validation is done on-unit rather than in the cloud and therefore not consistently updated for robots that have been thrown out.)
