TWS 001 "Liberated" Class Corvette 'Thunderchilde'

The oldest serving warship in the Terran Alliance Unified Defense Force. The Thunder child was one of many captured Najuhlim Ships pressed into service with the Fledgling terran Navy after the relief of Earth By allied forces. It holds the distinction of being the first Warship operated solely by Terran trained crews and is officially the first ship to be commissioned into the Terran Fleet.

Disabled by mechanical failure, the captured completely intact during the Battle of The Mecklenburg Line the ship was even for it's time obsolete and underpowered. The Terran fleet was forced to use outdated Valkiir, O'maeda, and captured shipping extending the service life of the fragile poorly protected Najuhlim Frigates that littered the battlefields of earth, and were abandoned after being disable in combat with the arriving Allied fleet.

The Thunderchilde served for decades as a local patrol vessel enforcing commerce regulations and suppressing the frequent attacks on poorly protected terran shipping during the initial stages of settling worlds to provide sheaves for refugee populations should the Najuhlim Fleet attempt a counter attack and succeed in penetrating the defensive lines drawn up to block such assaults.

As the terran fleet was expanded and modernized the older ships were slowly phased out, destroyed, or disabled by mechanical failures. The Thunder Childe remained in service due to sheer luck avoiding being scrapped by pure chance and at one time being completely lost among mothballed ships until it was discovered to be in fully operational condition during salvage operations.

Taken out of Mothballs as continual conflict, forced the TAUDF to use every asset at it's disposal the vessels served in combat in every armed conflict since the First Incursion, fighting Rouge AI, O'maeda mutineers, Q'sa, and Onai Raiders, and on multiple occasions engaging it's former owners in direct combat.

The ship has a reputation for being hard to kill, even when damaged she has returned to base and been in condition to be repaired and returned to service. By the time the TAUDF no longer needed to use surplus vessels. the Little ship had earned a place among other "Legacy Ships"retained by the fleet to honor the services of the crewmen who served with distinction aboard the older vessels.

Refitted with modern hardware, drives, and weapons the ship became a training vessel. The decreased size of the more modern system gives the ship a surprisingly roomy interior for a small vessel. The upgraded weapons also give the ship a potent punch for it's size. Now classified as a Corvette the once sluggish and underpowered ship is now among the most agile vessels in the reserve training fleet.

The Thunder Childe is the last known example of it's class in operation, and is believed to be the last incursion era vessel regularly operating outside of museum pieces held by various organizations and private owners.

Its role as the flagship of the Mars Federal Olympus Military Academy Fleet Training Squadron has led to a number of High ranking officers, and many Politicians with military service among the ranks of those who have served aboard the vessel. This almost certainly ensures that the ship will remain in service barring catastrophic mechanical failure, or unforeseen damage.

Her current Captain Ihanda Pra Kerensky is a Najuhlim Expatriate, who is a descendant of the original crew of the Thunder Childe. She has been outspoken in her opinion the Thunderchilde should be transferred to the Expatriate Mobile Militia Squadrons. While the ships return to Najuhlim Operators is not likely, and is a politically contentious subject the Captain as shown remarkable tact when speaking on the subject.
