Description
Underside shot of AMAZON's fabled flagship, the Carrier Aircraft Alexandria. You'll note the doors and hatches lining her belly. Some of these, are bomb bays. Some of these are missile hatches. Some are drop ports to launch Strike BUNI's or deploy CAT Suit troops.
Whenever one of these doors opens--whichever one it is, it means trouble for Robolords on the ground.
Edit: I feel I should mention this, since folks are asking about it. The large, round assembly in the middle of the carrier aircraft's belly is a strategic SWITCH array. It the the largest such array in AMAZON's arsenal, and, depending upon the vessels altitude, can fry the brains of every artificial intellect in a 750 meter radius.
It is affectionately nicknamed "The Big SWITCH."

Fantastic and delightful to look at.
Out of curiosity - is the bridge the lower extension or the upper extension?

It's in the upper extension. [link]
Pretty self-explanatory.

Oh. Hm. That makes little bit more sense, I suppose; though out of curiosity, is the primary use to protect the ground or the sky?
Well, maybe not just protect, but you know what I mean.

It's primary use is to control territory, both in the air and on the ground.

You're jumping the gun. (Or rather, "topping" it. )
Wait until after she launches her jets.

CATsuits... sorry, I keep giggling whenever I hear about them. ^_^
What's that large spherical thing near the stern? Reactor vessel? Would they really have something like that be so, well, vulnerable, if it is? Or is it a sensor array?

I finally decided. It's a Strategic Neurosys Array.
You may or may not recall that AMAZON's "go-to" weapon is a beam that concentrates every "robot-brain-detonating-conundrum" posited in any incarnation of Star Trek ("No..YOU..are...imperfect!" ) into a repeating 8 nanosecond loop. This Neurosys Beam is fired by AMAZON infantry rifles, and shipboard cannon, but they have no grand slam area weapon--until now!
Park the Alexabdria over an FMP base, and it can force every robot in a mile radius on ground into electronic catatonia.
I suppose a neat name for it would be a "Data Cutter."

O_O Oh, wow. FMP is not gonna like that! It'll certainly clear out a landing zone, though. Hrm... is this something the FMP can shield against? I'm guessing not since as soon as they found out about it, they would distribute it to all their forces, but there might be a few that are so shielded.
I'm guessing there's a suitably dramatic visual effect to accompany it.

I haven't decided.
I'm stuck between a side looking/look-down AWACS antenna, allowing for coordination of ground forces and close support squadrons ; and an Anti-Monument Laser Weapon that opens up like a metal flower and pounds the ground, either to clear landing zones for Strike BUNI's, or reenact scenes from "Independence Day".
Don't know which to go with.

Somehow, in this universe, I can definitely see a variety of organizations and polities seeing the need for an AMLAW. And not just for clearing landing zones, either....

Crap. AMLAW is just to good an acronym to ignore. It sounds powerful.
"Clear the area, the Alexandria's about to fire the AMLAW!!"

Given that AMAZON's primary mission involves rescuing squishy and very unarmored targets I'm not sure that saturation bombardment should be the first, second, or even third option on the table.

Such weapons are rarely used. AMAZON'z primary weapon is the Neurosys Beam, which transmits everything Captain Kirk ever said to confuse a robot or computer into exploding, recycling every tenth of a second.
But on those occasions when they encounter a column of recruitment drones, on the way to a mass abduction, It would be nice to have something to ruin their day with.
Of course, it could be an economy size N-Beam.

It kind of looks like one of the Annie plants (a neutronium annihilator) that are used both for powering and gravity generation on ships in the Schlock Mercenary universe.

It's one of the finest webcomics ever made. If you've ever heard someone mention The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Pirates (rule one: pillage then burn) this is where it came from.
Start from the beginning when you have a spare couple of days. [link]

Heh, I'm presently reading "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People".
Entirely too much of the book is "touchy-feely" claptrap, but it I can appreciate the "Pirate" joke here because of it--so it's not a total loss.
I might check out the strip. It's gotta be better than Megatokyo.

Like a lot of webcomics the art is rough at first, but quickly gets better

Excellent drop-ship design.
Wonder if the robots will ever gain a fear that 'tomorrow the sky may fall on me' from these attacks?
...Fortunately tomorrow never comes

Perhaps. Although Robolords deny any emotional motivation it's obvious that they are influenced, at least partially, by such things as revenge and lust.

Hehe yeah, for an emotionless 'race' they're certainly motivated by lust for more sexy maids and get revenge for attacks on them.

Heh, we're thinking alike in certain regards. I haven't finished the appropriate story yet, but the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. SkyCarriers launch their fighters by dropping them nose first out the bottom, a process the pilots jokingly call a "gravity catapult launch".
Nice thing about flying carriers, Bolters have a MUCH higher survival rate. And with a top speed of between 200-250 knots, it's possible to do vertical touchdowns with non-VTOL aircraft. Just really, really dangerous.
