Description
When I was youngmy parents took me to church every Sunday.
Before the service there was little more
than the murmur of people coming in,
sitting themselves in pews that spread out
in ripples from the altar.
The congregation
would rise as a tide
when the priest appeared,
carrying with him the gravity of religion.
Amplifiers hidden in the ceiling
transformed his voice from that of a mere person
to one of mystical depth, heavy with wisdom.
And when he lifted the communion wafer
into the air like a moon
everyone knelt
like rows of falling waves
pulled to worship.
And we would walk up,
circuating between the pews and the dais
in a familiar current,
waiting for a taste of heaven
handed down to us,
a weightless piece of bread.

This looks surreal. Its compositional interest is the key to captivation here. Is that a bit of 'moon flare' in the bottom middle? if it is i've never seen it before lol. Very odd indeedy. I love this image m8. Its original yet well mastered. You've captured this as good as anyone could wish for

Not flare, but it's the reflection of the moon's light on the water
Thanks again

Man! The foreground doesn't even look real. I'm assuming it is, but you know what they say about what happens when you assume...

It's real, just the effects of a long exposure with some yellow street lamps and a predawn sky serving as backlighting, plus some curve and contrast adjustments

oh, i really like this picture - it's so peaceful.
the only little thing that irrtitates me is that little green lens-flare in the lower center..
anyway - fantastic work!

Glad you like it Though I'm not sure where you're refering to the lens flare...in the reflection of the light on the water?
Thanks for commenting

for me it looks like a flare - and it's a few pixels under the chairs and it's green. maybe my monitor is just bad...

I once asked the question if there is beauti in repetition and you said there is. This one proves it without a doubt. It also combines it with simplicity and great use of open space to lose yourself in. Not your best shot ever, but so much worth the watch....

This is a very interesting shot. Good job with the connection to worship, it's very subtle and not so easy to see at first glance, but when you see it, it's very powerful.
I see the logic to the way you did the framing and I think it works quite well. I would be tempted to try getting the colour to match the sky exactly and loose the thin black border. Having said that, it might look horrible and you might have already tried it, in which case just ignore this comment.

the photo's lovely, the lyrics are wonderful..
still i think i'd prefer a-one-color border. Not that this one's not good, actually you've done it perfectly, but the way it is it somehow distracts one fromt he very photo, i think..
anyway, once again you've captured a beautiful scene my friend...
