Description
How to emulate Copic Markers digitally with Paint Tool SAII've been struggling to emulate copic markers digitally using Paint Tool SAI. After a lot of experimentation and thought, this is the method I decided to use. I admit it's still not exactly like using copics, but I reckon the result looks close enought.

This is awesome! I've been wanting to try copic-style in SAI for a while, but never got anything not hideous. First time trying this, and I think it came out pretty good!

It's custom made. I teach how to make it in the tutorial.

I think i'll give a shot later, just to know, the texture that it have is because the tool or the paper texture of your lineart?

White-Nuts In reply to Tsumerai-Kyon [2011-04-27 15:52:35 +0000 UTC]
Most of it is due to the texture I apply to the layer. The texture on the tool is just there to bring out the texture more in the shadow areas.

This is very interesting and the results are quite impressive! I have the same issue regarding not being able to buy copics anywhere so this is great help. I'll make sure to try it out in the future! Thank you!

I thought your Feena pic looked like traditional media when I first saw it, though I knew it wasn't 'cause I saw it in #PaintToolSAI . This looks really great, I've never seen this technique before. I'll have to give it a go! ^^

Yeah, copics are hard to get here, so I had to come up with a way to emulate them

Yeah, there's no way I could afford them either. I love the effect they make though. ^^

Thank you for this tutorial!
It's very similar to the real Copic!
Single-layer coloring? It's gonna be tough if there's a mistake...
Thank God SAI comes with infinite Ctrl+Z

White-Nuts In reply to LazyRemnant [2011-04-22 10:30:48 +0000 UTC]
XD Yeah. You can try and duplicate the layer before you apply a new color so you have a backup just in case.

Sorry! >__<"
My sai is a bit different. For example, the tip choice they give you, mine doesn't have one that says, "[NONE]". And mine has dilusion. So I have no idea what to set that one into.
Again, Sorry! >___<

Ah, I dunno then. You might have to play around with the brush settings, because I'm not really sure what your sai is like.
