Description
ok this is my first Tutorial and I suck at teaching people so you can use this or not. And I know some of you out there will say "what is this guy doing that's not how you do it!, or he's doing it the long way... -.-" So I'd sppreciated that you would give constructive comments instead of making me look stupid o.0 XDRelated content

This wasn't the most in-depth thing I've ever read, but it did teach me one or two things (which I'll probably end up using), and the tutorial was short, so I didn't get bored and wonder off somewhere else.
Good work, thanks for this...

Interesting. Shame I don't have photoshop. So if I understand this, it's dividing line art into sections, applying single color bases to each section, lightening a determined area, darkening the rest of the area based on distance from the lightened area, and repeating that process for every other section. I'm assuming that dodge/burn are brush tools. I'm also noticing that little of the base color remains afterwards - is that part of the intent? It does explain why all of your art has the same sort of texture to it throughout the entire piece (since the same technique is applied to every part of the art, I assume).
You might want to touch up the text a little. Keeping it focused to the steps and instructions alone might help.

hehe well.. when you use the "dodge tool" set teh range to highlight, its on the top bar, the defualt for photoshop was midtone which doesnt give a nice color when you use it, its just a small thing i forgot to mention ^^

Very interesting. I'd wondered how you did your shading. Oh, you know you can always color the black lines themselves if you don't want to eradicate them completely? Pull up the sketch, open up the Levels tool (ctrl+L or apple+L depending on windows or mac). Change the value for black to 128 and the value for white to 130. Leave the middle setting alone. That'll give you as close to pure black and white as photoshop can manage. Then (making sure your color choice is the default black & white first) go to Select and choose Color Range (sampled colors, fuzziness 0, image). This will select all the black in your image. While it's still selected, go to Edit > Copy, and then Edit > Paste. That will put your black lines on a new transparent layer all by themselves. Hit the Lock Transparency button on the layers palette, and voila! All you have to do is run a brush with the desired colors over them, and the black is all gone. Since the transparency is locked, you can only paint on the lines themselves. I know it doesn't apply as much with the way you color and shade, but it's a nifty trick.

*lol* You're most welcome. To your credit, I'd never thought of coloring over the lines on new layers. It creates the neat shiny line-less effect which I've always thought was so cool about your coloring.
