This is the first in a series of rockstar portraits I am planning on painting and hopefully selling to make a few extra bucks. A woman at the British pub where I work hangs up these big, really hideous paintings that are really just posterized, monochromatic, blown up (and often pixelated) photographs of various British celebrities and regularly sells them for over a thousand dollars to the drunk people at the bar, so I figure, I could do that. Well, except for the thousand dollars, the posterized, the pixelated, and the hideous part.This is acrylic and colored pencil on illustration board, if anyone wants to know. I love when I accidentally make ubiquitous gazing eyes! But it always creeps me out too.
This painting is gorgeous. I especially love the splashes of gold at the bottom and the gold in his spacesuit.

I did check out your gallery, and you're right, we do have similar taste in music, very Glam. I really love your dolls and puppets. I also love 80's fantasy movies, especially Labyrinth. I was Sarah for my school's masquerade ball a couple of Halloweens ago and I got my boyfriend to be Jareth. I think there's a picture of that somewhere in my gallery, maybe you've seen it. It was crazy--everyone our age that had grown up with the movie treated us like we were some sort of royalty, and crowds of girls (and boys) were flocking around my bf, calling him "Mr. Bowie" and spazzing over his accent. I've made a lot of fun costumes before but that one was definitely my favorite.
