Description :WARNING: Lots of scarey things called 'words' up ahead!

Oh how we Paige people love our racehorses! With Rathskeller out of competition with his injury and Like a Hurricane training up to the Sumerian stakes, we have no racers, Paige relies on the income of our racehorses!

So our head trainer, Danny Lundon and the owner of Paige Stud, John Maybe, and I set out to find another racer. John told Danny he wanted a horse of color, so we headed to Riddle Pine Acres of course, the home of the flashy late Sumerian. I said I wanted a filly and Danny wanted a turf horse.

The newest additions to Riddle Pine Acres were working out this morning and strutting their stuff, they were all running on synthetics which is pretty much a must in North America nowadays, a horse must be versatile on all surfaces. First was a bay colt named Czar's Rule, Danny brought his own watch, he was so paranoid, "They won't lie about their times, I'm sure these guys are legit, just relax!" I had urged on the way over earlier. Czar's Rule rocket by, Danny's watch stopped at :21 and 2, "He zips along pretty good huh?" John inquired. Danny remained silent, as was his custom.

The second horse clipped off her quarter in :20 and change, WOW, "Danny raised his eyebrows and I heard everyone who had come to see the workout murmuring, she was FAST! I wanted her, she was everything we had been looking for. But when her rider pulled her up something was amiss, damn! I heard the disappointed sighs all around, possibly the best filly here was now out of the auction, her tail went sideways and her ears went back, she was hurt. Danny gritted his teeth and John shook his head, I was more worried about the filly, I hoped she would be okay.

After everything settled down an aggressive competitor took to the track, a dark grey colt by Illuscionce pulled his jockey through a nearly :22 flat quarter, I looked at Danny to see what he thought, his watch still said :20 and change from the filly Intercontinental, he had not clocked the grey.

Next was another filly, I was so excited, GIRL POWER!!! Sorry . . . Her name was Reckless Intensity and she was a liver chestnut, John seemed very interested, but as usual Danny was all business, very stern business. I had never seen a filly run as fast as she did, just short of :20 seconds, Danny clocked her at exactly :20, though he was not impressed. Sprint races in the US did not have very high purses, and he was not interested in this horse. John was blown away by the time and wanted her, but knew the same as Danny, no sprinters.

Number twenty-three was a showy colt named Temple of the Gods, his striking blue eyes and bright white splash markings were beautiful! Danny said he did not care for the sabino horses, “They’re bred for show.” and we could not convince him otherwise, even though Sumerian was a hell of a racer. He was a big colt, and he moved like a train, a bit slow to get going but once he found his stride he thundered down the stretch he spit out a quarter in almost :22 flat, Danny clocked him at :22 and 1. He sighed and looked back up the track for the next horse, John didn’t say anything either. If Danny had to train a horse he didn’t like his heart wouldn’t be in it, and the horse would show it.

A demon of a black colt was next, Helmsman fought his rider all the way down the stretch and then refused to be pulled up, Danny had dealt with that with Lakan Kana four years ago, not again, no thanks. The next horse was a lovely filly named Paparazzi, she breezed a quarter in about :21 and 2 and looked like a dream to handle. Danny showed a little interest, but then again he said she was too flashy for his liking.

Danny read the program and said the next horse was the only other one he was interested in after Intercontinental, she was a grey named Bloody Glory. Strange name, but soon I saw why, “Look John she’s got bloody shoulders!” She was pretty and tossed her head as she warmed up, I noted the smooth gait and relaxed posture, she wasn’t too short or too tall, a great all rounder. With a cue from her rider she set down for the drive and breezed her quarter in just short of :22 seconds, “There you go.” Danny finally said, “I like that one.”

Paige Stud's Bid on Bloody Glory
EDIT: We got her!!!!

Name: Bloody Glory
Barn Name: Glory
Breed: Thoroughbred
Gender: Mare
Height: 16.2 hh
Colour: Dapple Gray
Markings: Blaze, Bloody shoulder and flank
Pedigree: Illuscionce x Starter
Discipline: Racing
Temperament: This filly thinks she's the queen. Dare she step in mud or run in the rain it'll be all over. She seems to enjoy working out and sees racing as an opportunity to show her stuff, not as a job like our other horses, she's out there to show off and have a good time. The slightest cloud in the sky during workouts seems to upset her, not sure if it's because she thinks it might rain or that it already has, but she is not happy! In the barn she is pretty quiet like her sire, but on the track she shifts to diva mode and posses like a model for anyone, whether it be cameracrews or early morning clockers. Hopefully she will not be as inconsistant as she is unpredicatable, we'll try to keep the princess out of the mud but may have to straighten up the diva attitude.

Breeze Details
Distance: 1/4 mile
Surface: Synthetic
Time: 21.9
Trainer Comment:"This filly is good but if she's run in sloppy conditions, there may be a good chance she doesn't place."
Rider Comment:"Riding her is like a rollercoaster. You never know if something is off in her liking and she'll make it clear right then and there that she isn't happy."
Other Notes: Sire was a Horse of the Year and Champion Older Horse. He's by the half brother to Blaze the Trail.

Wow that's an awesome picture. I love the mane and tail and how clean everything looks without the lines. How'd you do that?

I have been doing lineless stuff for about . . . a few months maybe, I just sketch it out and then paint everything and then delete/erase the lines
