Out of all of Kiara and Kovu's children, Binah is the one left behind. While Ramla was Kiara's chosen heir, and Shaka was Kovu's, Binah was more or less pushed to the side when it came to her parents. Sure they tried to give her attention, but they always seemed distracted and more focused on the other cubs. At first this was tough, as Binah always wanted them around to play with her, but as they spent more and more time with Ramla and Shaka, she too began to drift. She ended up spending a lot of time with her aunts and uncles, and the other cubs as well, her social yet calm nature making her easy to talk to. While she did enjoy talking to her pridemates, she much preferred spending time with Simba and Nala, begging them for stories of their own youth. Though her parents often neglected her, the others in the pride always made sure Binah felt loved.
As she blossomed day by day, admired for her optimism, the same could not be said for her siblings. She had tried reaching out to them before, but their parents always swept them away for lessons, and so Binah rarely saw or spoke to her brother and sister. Instead, she grew closer to the likes of Harufu, Fumnaya, and Nunka, and unlike her siblings, her cubhood days were filled with play and laughter. However, that all changed with the arrival of Kipande's son, fathered by none other than Kovu himself. With the news of Kovu's betrayal spreading rapidly through the pride, Binah turned not to her parents, but to Simba and Nala for guidance, not quite understanding what had happened or how to feel. Simba holds fast to the idea that Kovu is no good for Kiara, that he has betrayed her one too many times, and while Nala agrees, she encourages Binah to come to her own conclusions about her father. As Binah questions how she feels about her father's actions, she begins to realize just how little she actually knows her parents.
