Zuri is well known around Priderock as being one of the more outspoken cubs of the pride, and while most of the cubs saw her as stuck up, she maintained a steady friendship with Kiara and Tiifu. Simba and Nala agreed to make Zuri Kiara's lady-in-waiting as Kula worked to prove her loyalty, saving Zuri from much of the bullying that was directed at her sister. Because she was closely associated with the princess and the royal family in general, Zuri was often allowed to speak her mind without repercussions, so she often said what she wanted when she wanted, and believed herself to be better than some of the other cubs. Though her ego was inflated, she was also insecure about her blood relation to Scar, and often publicly mocked her sister to fit in with the other cubs.
As she aged however, the consequences of her actions began to take full affect. Nala was quick to teach Zuri that words mattered, and though Zuri tried to brush her off at first, when even Kiara gave her two cents, Zuri realized maybe she should listen to them. The final push for her to change came when Tamu ran away, and though Zuri had always picked on her sister, she had still cared about her, and now she was gone. For a long time Zuri blamed herself and she fell into a sort of funk. She wasn't as out-going as she used to be, and Boga's departure also made her realize that they weren't cubs anymore. If she wanted to be an adult she had to act like it, and though it was difficult at first, with Nala and Kiara's help, Zuri slowly began to mature and grow.
Eventually, Zuri regained her confidence and sass, but now she knew to be more careful and kind to her pridemates. She wasn't much in favor of the battle between the Outlanders and Pridelanders, but she also wasn't the warmest to Kovu. She didn't think she could trust him, and though she was supportive of Kiara's feelings, still kept her distance to the young male. Zuri wasn't much surprised by his betrayal, having expected it from the start, and when Simba called the pride to battle, Zuri left with them. Despite her poor fighting skills, she did surprisingly well against the skinny and malnourished Outlanders, and in the end the Pridelanders were the victors.
Once the battle was settled, Babu approached Zuri with a familiar face in tow. Though now much older, Zuri still recognized her sister, and Zuri embraced her sister and apologized for her treatment of her. Tamu found it difficult to settle back in the Pridelands, but Zuri spent as much time with her sister as possible, trying to make up for lost time. Before long things began to settle, and as her friends settled with their respective partners, Zuri found herself alone. She didn't necessarily feel lonely, but she recognized her friends were now much busier with their own partners and their own lives. Zuri wasn't quite sure where her romantic life would lead until the pride took in an elderly lion and his strange looking son: Baridi and Nusu. Zuri was initially a bit wary of the two, but Nusu proved to be a very sociable person, and he and Zuri got along great after a short time. Zuri found his bashfulness charming, and though he looked a bit strange, she knew better than to judge a book by its cover as she had before, and it wasn't long until she and Nusu were wed and expecting their first cub.
