Description
I recently borrowed an English wheel, and so to teach myself to use it I made a set of copper bicycle fenders for my old mountain bike that I converted for urban use. Forming the fenders was no big deal, but making all the brackets and mounts, and stays was sort of a pain, as was the fitting. They work beautifully, though if I were to do then over again I would make the back of the front fender a little longer.Related content

Way cool! I've only recently seen a video of how to use an English wheel, but not had a chance to pay with one yet. I'll need to add that to my shop of tools. I still cannot imagine how you managed to get this complex double reversed curve with it.

I worked the main part with the radius anvil wheel on the inside, and the recurve part with it on the outside, and working in the other direction, but without much overlap in the wheel work. A plannishing hammer on a silversmithing stake did the rest. Shaping the fenders was the easy part; it was making all the mounting hardware that was a pain.
