Description Oil on canvas. 36" x 12" This is not too good a photo of this painting, I plan to have it professionally shot once the paint has fully cured, But I wanted to post it anyway. It is a painting of a little island called Aegwutdun, I don't know the English name, Sea lion rock or something like that. It is just off Pt. St. George, in the far north of California, and here is viewed through the shell of a razor clam. This is one of my more realistic paintings and I like it anyway.

Thanks, it is a special place for me, with a lot of untold history history. It is where I went for a while to be by myself after my mother died, and there was once a town there, though only a few dozen people know that. Everyone died about 200 years ago, probably from small pox. The people there had been trading with Russian whaling ships, and then everyone got sick and died. There are still stories that a few of the oldest of the native folks there tell, and a couple of middens near a spring, with lots of shells and little chips of obsidian. I still like to go there when I am in California visiting my father.

Wow, that's really interesting. And a little sad.

If things can be beautiful, I'm OK with a little sad.
