Description People who saw Sherlock Holmes - A Game Of Shadows will know this scene.
Even though I used a more traditional looking Holmes, instead of the Downey! one.

SPOILER

Holmes is injured and would not have won a fight against Moriarty, so he choose to throw himself into the abyss, holding tight to Moriarty and taking him with him. I am not sure how high he he thought the chances would be that he's survive the fall itself but just in case he did, a little special device will safe his live after all.

This is the only scene of both films in which I managed to see Holmes. No actor. I know that in the book he isn't injured and therefore doesn't have to make such a decision, but I am convinced he would have done the same if it had been the situation as in this film.

I was waiting for someone else to do an amazing fanart of this scene that I can adore... but I ... wanted to give it a try, too. I would still love to see someone else draw this, I would love it to bits!

What a jaw-dropping piece. Β It conveys in a mere image all you need to know about Holmes and his mission to end the malicious crimes of the formidable Professor James Moriarty. Β As Holmes states in The Final Problem, he is more than willing to die if it means Moriarty goes down with him and his tyranny upon London ends. Β The expression you have created for Holmes expertly transmits this idea in a lucid and powerful manner. Β Holmes, his eyes closed and lips relaxed is dedicated to this end, and is comfortable with entering death's cold embrace if it means that the Professor is coming with him to Death's door. Β Everything from this artwork's composition and mood (set with exceptionally created rain drops) are spot on and vehemently powerful to take in. Β In layman's terms, well done! Β

As much as I actually am not very fond of RDJ's Holmes, just because of this scene, I would even recommend trying to watch the film. xD Exactly what you just said, was what sticked with me after the film and made me reproduce this fanart of the scene.

I enjoy the films, though his Holmes has his bad moments. Β I think Game of Shadows captured the relationship of Holmes and Watson fantastically, as well as Sherlock's separation anxiety, and I especially enjoyed their take on Moriarty, played brilliantly by Jared Harris.

wow... what you did here is amazing! This was my favorite scene in the whole movie - for the first time RDJ's Holmes seemed almost canon. It was wonderful! I think this might be the best Riechenbach drawing I have ever seen! Bravo, my dear, you have done beautifully!

I always loved that scene! It was one of my favourite parts actually. Even if it didn't happen that way in the books, it was a very realistic portrayal of what Sherlock might have done if the situation was different. I loved how, even with Moriarty struggling a screaming the whole way down, Sherock just let go and fell with an almost serene look on his face. I think you captured the serenitly perfectly.

Since we all have more Holmes art in our galleries (the other artists I saw you posting pictures of) wouldn't it be nice to provide links for the people visiting your blog?

hm, this movie seems pretty epic. You're gradually making me want to see it...

Lovely representation of Holmes. I'm glad you went accurate route, I can never quite believe a short scruffy Holmes XD great background, too.

Thanks! I am not sure if you should go and see it if you haven't seen the first one but... if you have you can imagine what awaits you and then I think I can recommend watching the film.

Yeah, the short scruffy Holmes is forgotten though in this scene and even though it is just a minute or so, this totally makes up for the rest of the film.

I loved this bit so much. It's very hard for me to see Holmes and not Robert Downey Jr with messy (normal?) hair, but this moment had that. I kept waiting for him to smile, but of course he wouldn't... as much as it would have been very touching, Holmes would not have smiled nor frowned nor shown any sign of it 'touching' him.

You got the colour pallette perfectly, I recognised it easily from the thumbnail. You captured his calm wonderfully.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Windmaedchen In reply to quotidia [2012-01-06 21:33:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks but I am sure that when I can put the BD in my PC and stop that scene the colours are ... different. xD A lot.

Whether that is the one and only reason I don't know... but it certainly is a good reason. If you noticed how horrified Moriarty looks I am sure he prefers Watsons face.
