Description
As the title says, these are truck designs for my webcomic Inner Space. They are mainly to be used as background props so I haven't decided too much about them (even the names were spur of the moment thing), but even so, I couldn't miss drawing them into an elaborate "poster" type picture.A larger image of the trucks can be found here: [link]
*************************************************
The Marbanian Army's most widely used vehicle is the locally manufactured BE6-T general transport truck. This basic lorry can be converted to a variety of roles, including troop transport and mounting different heavy support weapons.
*************************************************
The Marbanian BE5-AT could be considered the precursor of the BE6. Although a military version of the BE5 was attempted, it failed to capture the army's attention, so instead the truck was manufactured for the civilian market. In this case the truck is configured as a mobile workshop for auto repairs.
*************************************************
The Tambrian “SMEAJ” 5 farm truck is one of the most common utility vehicles in the Inner Space world. Due to it’s low cost and mechanical reliability it has been widely exported and is in wide use even in Marban.
*************************************************
The mainstay of the Tambrian Military transport arm, the R.U.R. 131 greneral transport truck, used for everything from hauling ammunition to towing stricken vehicles (although a specialist towing vehicle based on the standard MBT chassis exists for tank recovery). Unlike other similar trucks, the engine is mounted centrally in a protected position and the whole cab tilts forward to allow for maintenance access.
*************************************************
The R.U.R. 132 is a specialist troop transport based on the sucessful R.U.R. 131. Designed specifically for the Tambrian Army, it can carry up to 15 battle ready infantrymen and a heavy machinegun can be mounted in the top hatch. Also due to the vehicle’s relatively small wheel base, lighter weight than most contemporary military trucks and it’s innovative side access panels, the Tambrian Army is routinely credited with the best troop mobility in the Inner Space world.

I'm curious now, I've noticed that on your vehicles you seem to have the naval navigational light colours of red for port (left) and green for starboard (right) are these used as directional indicators (aka "blinkers") or are they a constantly lit orientation light? I'd imagine directional indicators but they seem pretty recessed for that, to where another driver might have a hard time spotting the indicator if they're at a angle.
Likewise if they are directional, are the brake lights a different colour than red since the port directional is red?
And I noticed that some of these have a rigid wheel, rather than the springs separating the hub from direct contact with the tyre, is this a matter of simplicity over complexity? As I imagine a solid wheel would be much easier to produce than a sprung hub one.

Glad you asked!
The red/green lights act both as navigation lights such as you might find on a ship or airplane as well as turn signals - they are constantly on and when they blink they announce the direction of an intended turn or lane change.
For example, red on steady and green blinking means right side turn, vice-versa for a left turn.
The system is still pretty rudimentary though, and some vehicles lack the turn indicator lights altogether- some have red/green turn signal flags and some trucks simply have stationary posts coloured red/green, which also serve as an indication to the driver of how wide the back of their truck is.
The stop signals are orange "Xs", and the same goes for traffic lights - in this world, instead of a green/red light you either get an orange "X" for "stop" or a blue triangle for "go".
An orange triangle means "proceed with caution".
Indeed, a rigid wheel is both easier to manufacture and a lot sturdier, hence it's use in military vehicles. As you can imagine, though, riding in one of these things is anything but pleasant...

Interesting. Seems pretty straightforward and the shape/colour combination traffic light actually seems like it'd be easier to identify than our current system of same shape with differing colours.
Heh, as for the wheels, well, I have an old 1922 Ford Model T wrecker, and while it has inflated tyres the lack of shock absorbers and such don't make it a particularly smooth ride. Depending on how advanced these vehicle's suspensions are they might even be smoother. XD
Oh, and one more thing, upon seeing the location of the gas caps I now wonder... exactly where are the fuel tanks placed on these vehicles? It seems to be under the cab or even possibly just behind and above the engine compartment. Well, except for 4 and 5 where it looks to be frontally mounted.

Just a question, does rubber not exist in this world?

Nope, it doesn't. they had to make do until they come out with a suitable substitute.

Well, if you want to know more about it, there is a whole conversation on the topic going on in comments here .

The more I see of your works, and more I read descriptions of it, more amazed I am by it.
One question:
What is purpose of round window(?) on right side of every truck?

It's something called a "clear view screen" [link] . It's simply a circle of glass spun around by an electric motor so that water and snow would be driven off it by the centrifugal force.
Ironically, in real life, even though it was pioneered for cars in the mid 30s, it's something usually encountered on boats and trains, but I decided to use this technology instead of more "conventional" windscreen wipers to further drive home the point that this is indeed not "our" world.

Very great designs. The track parts look almost like the Sd.Kfz 251 series.

Well, yes and no, because they are based more on Russian vehicles such as the T55, thus none of them have offset or interleaved roadwheels.
The "Smeaj", especially, has tracks very similar to late war US tanks, like the M24 Chaffee or the M26 Pershing.

Hey, long time no see (well, read, but anyway...)
I'm glad you like them. Unfortunately, now that I look at them they're a bit overscale when compared to the other vehicles... Oh well. Should be an easy enough fix though.

And there was a great grumbling at the factory when the workers were told thye had to make the trucks over again in the right scale.

Well, if they read the plans right the first time round then this wouldn't have happened...
PS: Happy new year!
