Description
If you are anything like me, you sometimes get the feeling there are actually two of you. The one who carries your better qualities: your good intentions, your creative thoughts, and your logic. Then there is your other, your darker half. The one who embodies your emotional baggage, your cruelties, your wounds: everything that seems to cause self-sabotage by getting in your way despite the fact that it is in fact part of you. This is my attempt to illustrate this concept using myself. Photo reference was a photo of me I took a while ago, didn't particularly care for as a photo, and set aside for possible use as art in the future.Related content

sounds to me like classic jungian psychology. your painting seems to adress the concepts of the ego archetype (the quilities you identify with) and the shadow archetype (your dark aspects, or everything you dislike and don't identify with yet can see clearly in other people).
you can google "process of individuation", that should provide you with a wide varity of articles on the subject.

I will do that! I've read a bit of Jung here and there in the past, but I'd love to read more on some of the subjects he addressed and that you mentioned here. And thank you very much for the detailed comment. I really appreciate it.

Of those dwo ladies I prefer the redhaired. She's full of life, she has a beauty smile and friendly look. The black one makes me really sad. But that's a true what you'are writing about two sides of people. We all are crashed into many pieces that constitute our uniqueness.
I have a one question to you. Could you tell me, where had you found the brushes of glittering stars that you've used on the flowers and necklaces ?

Yeah, I did this piece [link] of myself. It's a vampire'ish girl as well. I am tired of hurting people without knowing it. It bothers me. I do feel there is 2 of me. Wonderful piece.

Ooo... very cool! I'm not glad that you can identify with that odd feeling, but I am glad that you can identify with this piece for sure. Nice to know one is not alone.

I agree completely, we're all made up of dualities. Yin-yang. light and dark. And I think we need the dark part too to balance up the lighter. We need to be selfish and petty and mean too, it's a way of surviving, to protect ourself and what's ours.
I love how you've done this with the red parts and the tinsel and thorn crown vs flowers as hair dress.

I agree... we really need that balance, despite our drive to become "perfect" people. Without darkness, there is no light.

And we wouldn't appreciate light without shadows. Sometimes it's nice and cooling resting in the shadows too. Hide in the darks with tears and feelings we don't want to get exposed.

This defines me in the same reflective mirror to your sentiments. I think this is why I am so bonded to your words when you express them in such sentences. I feel that expression sometimes position in my direction of thinking. I find it really enthralling.
Your portrait of two selfs is magnificantly weilded. It combines so much more then many could identify until now. Both through your words, and the illustration of the beautiful woman that mirror each other.
Simply a wonderous thing to view and be familiar with. You truly out did your self.

Thank you! I've had some rather ugly experiences at certain points in my life, and I feel it has made my Shadow into a rather angry being who really does not want to be happy. It is a constant struggle, this trying to explain to her that I know she means well, but that she doesn't have to fight anymore.
