Description
Here's number five in the Brothers Grimm series, my version of the story of Snow White, only I have of course chosen to illustrate the character of the Wicked Queen, here modeled after ~auralis-stock holding the freshly enchanted poison apple in her castle keep, created from a photo by ~black-heaven-stock . Somehow when I think of Snow White, she's the character that stands out the most to me. She represents very strongly the concepts of vanity and jealousy for me, two of the many demons that can live within the human heart, and her unfortunate fate is a lesson to those of us who would let these forces take control of our lives and dictate our actions. Again, you aren't seeing the Disney version of the Wicked Queen. You're seeing her the way I have always seen her. I always think of her as being very beautiful, but in a cold and icy sort of way. I also imagine her looking very similar in coloring to Snow White herself, the person of whom she was so jealous, because somehow I think they represent opposite sides of the same coin.... the very innocent and the very corrupt. incredible! You're really having fun with this series, aren't you? I can't wait to see who you do next...maybe you could do Beauty and the Beast!

Yeah, Beauty and the Beast could be fun! It's definitely on my list. Might do Sleeping Beauty next though, since I have the stock all picked out.

OH man...I wish this was a print. I'd so want to buy it. Its memorizing and has me so infatuated with how you demonstrate the grimm series to your own design. You are utterly talented. I could only be so lucky to have my stock used in such eloquent ways as you've done with these fair maidens.

Aw... thank you! Hopefully it will be a print like the others. I just need to have some permissions sent.

Oh they do! All my work is available in my shop as postcards, although it would be nice if DA would give us the option of offering things as sets. I wish I could sell these as a package when I'm done.

it's beautiful, but i think you should change category cause in my opinion this is a photomanipulation not painting and airbrushing..

Maybe miscellanious? Too much of it is painted in by hand I think for photomanip.

mm.. yes maybe miscellaneus in digital art is the right category..

I think so. I do so many things to these pieces that they never really feel like they fit into any one category. I suppose that's what miscellaneous is for.

how about just digital art in general?

Gorgeous! Like the way she looks sad rather than mean, and her gray hairs she's not trying to hide, altough her face is still youthful. IMO the stepmum of SnowWhite was more a tragic woman than a mean one. She probably felt unloved, and thus she became cold and hard. But putting myself in her place I become the unloved second wife of a king who can't get over his first who died in child-birht, and pays all the attention to this first daughter while my own children remain rather overlooked. And over the years my husband has started to idealize his first wife too, seeing only the good sides of her, while I always get reminded of what SHE had that I lack . Getting envious and jelous under such circomstances is not hard.

Yeah, I totally agree!! I have always liked her, too, for the same reasons..... she seems very human, and I can sympathize with the way she probably felt even if I don't approve of her ways of dealing with it.

Yup, don't like her means either, but I guess she was sad and acted out of some desperation, perhaps as a cry out "See me for once for ยค%&!!"

This looks amazing! I don't know how you come up with all these beautiful illustrations. They just keep getting better! I'll add this to my favs in the stock account when I log on there.

Yay! I'm glad you like it. I don't remember if I asked for you to send permission for the print in my note though, now that I think about it. If I forgot, and it's all right, go ahead and send it along whenever you get a chance.

Thank you! I try to take some of these and make things out of them that are maybe a little away from the predictable.... some of the time anyway.
