Description
Thinking that AX 001 was gone, Wall.e cautiously stepped back out from behind the rock- and froze. She'd been mistaken- AX 001 was right there, and in an instant, the arm cannon was out again. Wall.e's eyes went as wide as dinner plates, and time seemed to slow down. In a heartbeat, she read the acronym on AX 001s upper arm- E.v.e.- and gasped in horror. Rivulet and Spearmaster were now perched on Wall.es shoulders, and they too looked terrified. In desperation, Wall.e tried to guess what other names (or aliases) E.v.e. could possibly have. Without thinking, she blurted, [Widowmaker?!?] She received a deafening roar in response- and the chase was on. Wall.e ran as fast as her legs could carry her, desperately hoping that she would get an opportunity to clear things up with E.v.e.. Behind her, E.v.e. roared again- she was pissed off, and now she was seeking blood.
Wall.e ran into the streets of New York, and immediately began knocking obstacles into E.v.e.'s way. She tipped over trash cans, cut down wires, and threw pieces of trash backwards as she ran. E.v.e. seemed implacable- she dodged pretty much everything Wall.e threw in her way. She then started firing her arm cannon at Wall.e, still roaring at the tops of her lungs. Wall.e briefly stopped and shut E.v.e. up by throwing a can at her head. E.v.e. stopped roaring for a second, and then growled at Wall.e, and raised her arm cannon. Wall.e took off again, this time resorting to parkour to dodge the slew of high energy bolts flying through the air. Wall.e howled in alarm as a few near missed occurred- and then a bolt hit her.
The explosion caused Wall.e to fall to the ground, stunned. She stumbled back to her feet, trying to regain her bearings. Then she heard the growl, and began running again, now panicking. Wall.e headed straight for a nearby pipeyard, and E.v.e. followed. Wall.e began ducking and dodging around the pipes as her mind began to clear. She knew this pipeyard- it was part of the drainage system for the iterator "Looks to the Moon"- whos superstructure towered above them in the fading light. Wall.e glanced over her shoulder at one point and felt a fresh wave of terror when she spotted E.v.e. chasing after her. Wall.e skidded to a stop in a just large enough clearing, and suddenly threw open her wings, growling back at E.v.e.. Surprized, E.v.e. skidded to a stop, then tried to throw her own wings out and growl back at Wall.e. Thinking quickly, Wall.e fired a plasma blast at one of the intake pipes. The pipe exploded, and a high pressure stream of water began to spur out, the air beginning to fog up with mist. Wall.e then dashed up another intake pipe. In the fog below, she heard E.v.e.'s footsteps along with a shout, [BLOODY WALL.E! CALL ME BY MY ARCH ENEMY'S ALIAS AGAIN AND I'LL- !!!] The last part was cut off by the sound of an explosion as Wall.e plasma blasted the pipe below her, releasing even more fog into the area. Wall.e then began edging towards the nearest door into the superstructure, almost breathing a sigh of relief.
She then looked down and - OH SHIT! A cyborg arm suddenly threw itself out of the fog and punched its claws into the side of the pipe below Wall.e. Wall.e turned and ran again as E.v.e. hauled herself up the pipe and over the edge of the superstructure, still snarling and cursing. All Wall.e heard was a menacing, apoplectic murmer- she was now running through the corridors, looking for a way to shake off E.v.e. and get out of "Looks To The Moon." E.v.e. started running after her, now getting closer and closer as the pair wound through the interminable maze of rooms and hallways. Wall.e desperately threw the dice- and blinked away from E.v.e.- three times in quick succession, and kept running, hoping that that would buy her enough time to throw E.v.e. off her tail. It wasn't enough- E.v.e. suddenly blinked in front of her, and Wall.e leaped down a side corridor as E.v.e. turned and lunged. Wall.e then recognized where she was- and followed the narrow hallway straight back outside- and to freedom. She dove off the edge and into a high speed flight home. In the distance, and the dusk light, she heard a somehow both furious and mournful howl pierce the darkening sky.
