Edit: I used Macromedia Flash MX for this and all my horseisle stuff. ;D I would not recommend Flash if you want a drawing program. Its difficult to shade in and its primarily used for animation.So if you want a drawing program, look at Adobe Photoshop. ;D

Wow you make it look so easy,i can do a outline of the horse and basic colouring , shading and muscle lines.but the shadowing part stumps me.im not saying im better then you,your art is better then me and always will be XD.its awesome.all your art is.

Okay, so I couldn't see it, and I zoomed into like, 1,000 and I'm like "GAH Still can't see it" >.>
I would love to see how you shade the eyes and body, though. I just lovelovelove the horses on HI.

Okay, scratch that...I figured out how to import a picture, but it won't let me use any of the tools in flash on the frame; they just disappear when I try to use them, including the erase, pencil, and paintbrush tools :/

I love all of you HI horses so much! I have a question, even though you probably won't answer it ^^ I'm using the same program you are, but I can't seem to get the whole thing to stay still while I'm animating bits and pieces. You know, like without redrawing it every frame and stuff XD Do you think you could possibly help me? I'm completely new to animation

i love HorseIsle particularly because it's an actual GAME. not a community with pixel horses that just sit there and stare at you freakishly. it has a World that - unlike HL - has a beautifully done design and is just a lot of fun to run around in. training isn't boring! you don't click a button all day. your horse's stats DO play a part in their ability to show. it's not about the number of the classes; it's about the quality of the horse. the horse art is brilliant and everything is marvelous.
it's just a fantastic game (you're making me neglect my presidency over the Lipizzaner Club on HorseLand! MEANIE!) and i want to huggle it. 
NOW ONTO THE TUTORIAL!
this is very well-explained and perfectly done. even i could do it if i got the patience, which is saying something. heh. anyway, i was looking for tutorials to do horse paintings (inspired by my pretty horsey on HI) and i found THE tutorial. yaaay.
all i can say is THANK YOU for the game and for the tutorial.

The holsteiner.
One of my favorites. I enjoy the coloring
on the Bay the most. I'm impressed with your
decision on the grey's coloring. I'm used to seeing
that kind of RL templates on barrel ponies and
quarter horses, not an english breed such as the
holstiener, but hey, if everyone was the same,
the world would be a dull place.
