I also can't STAND GayDash. Not cause I'm homophobic (Believe me, I'm not). I hate GayDash because of how some lesbians who like the show have tried to turn her into some kind of icon for gay rights. Maybe I'm alone on this, but I find the idea of taking a character as innocent as RAINBOW DASH and turning her into an icon for any issue like this morally repulsive. Despite what some bronies and pegasisters think, MLP is primarily an children's show. Don't take these innocent characters and use them as some kind of mouthpiece for your beliefs! There are plenty of HUMAN activists that are far more deserving of admiration. AHHGH!...Sorry I went on a rant, this is just something that really bothers me.

I'm with you, if the creator of any show hasn't declared them gay, then I'm not going to view them as gay. They are, after all, the CREATORS! Why do fans go against that? It makes no sense.
I love Transformers and the creators never stated that Megatron and Optimus have a romantic relationship (heck, they're trying to KILL each other), not Megatron and Starscream, or Soundwave and Megatron, etc. I've watched every behind the scenes and cast interviews possible and NO mention of any of the characters being gay.
The same can be said for any show ever made.
There are shows where there's gays in them like Hetalia and Negima, but those are OFFICIAL pairings.

I guess you could say that I'm against non-canon pairings period. If I don't like a hetero pairing, I just let it be. I don't like yaoi/yuri or slash, but I just let it be.
The characters of shows may be open to interpretation, but that doesn't mean that interpretations are correct. I go by the word of the creators. If I don't hear anything about so-and-so character being a homosexual, then I'm sorry, I'm not going to see them that way.
