Rarity and Spike both show that they have an interest in the opposite sex. That is still showing what they're sexual orientation is. Just because it's a little girl's show doesn't mean they'll keep those things out.

Dude, its different parents freak out if they see Dashie becoming lesbian, i don't have a problem with that but those ugly parernts will find it terrible, i mean they whined about Derpy. They even said they want Dashie out of the show just because she doesn't act like her gender and that she isn't "cute" when she actually is (for me she is :333 ).

Wow, creator of this stamp, feel free to ignore this, because I see where you're coming from, but I just want to put my opinion on all of this. I'm not bashing or trolling, let me remind you, I just want to put my opinion out there.

Okay, so we've all come to the conclusion that Rainbow Dash isn't the girliest of ponies. And as stated from the make of this stamp Lauren Faust never intended on Dashie representing any sexuality. We've got to the bottom line of that. But there are some things that some people said that just made me shake my head. And they weren't just on this stamp but ALL OVER deviantART.

"The characters don't even have sexual organs, so how could they have a sexuality?"
Now, the creator of this stamp NEVER said that. But piles upon piles of other artists have said this many times on deviantART.
Look, Rainbow Dash is called "she" and Spike is called "he", which says that YES, the characters do have sexual organs. If they didn't they'd be called "it", much like Beemo on Adventure Time. Just because you don't see distinction through body image as clearly as another cartoons, doesn't mean they don't have a gender. Rainbow Dash is called "she" for a reason--and if gender was based off of personality, we all know Rainbow Dash would be a "he", because like stated by many, many persons on here "Rainbow Dash is a tomboy".
I'd also like to bring up the fact that Spike, a he, as a crush on Rarity, a she, which implies that yes, there is sexuality in Lauren Faust's show. SO, just because lesbian/gay relationships aren't canon, doesn't mean it isn't there. Honestly.

Also, I have a small question for the creator of this stamp: I honestly don't understand why you said "gay is not a fad, it's a sexuality" when you have to be damn sure that everyone knows this, because I was wondering just where you got the thought that people pinned down Rainbow Dash as a lesbian because they thought that being gay was a fad. I just...I don't understand.

I like straight pairings too, but I'm a bit more pliable. I, personally, don't pin Rainbow Dash down as a lesbian just because I haven't exactly wasted my time pairing ponies together. Just saying.

And for all of those chicks out there who are like "I'm a tomboy, and I'm not a lesbian. So saying that Rainbow Dash is a lesbian is just dumb and rude" I'm a tomboy too, and I have people coming up to me everyday, yes, EVERYDAY asking me if I'm a lesbian. And you know what I do? Deal with it. I don't become butthurt for a character who doesn't even exist. Rainbow Dash isn't going to go running home, crying because people on the internet said she was a lesbian. She's a character, and as long as she is, people are going to ship her.

For a last note, by the way, you say earlier that "...what I said probably sounds whiny and homophobic..." News flash babe, your description of the stamp might state that your aren't homophobic, but for Christ's sake, have you (or anyone) taken a good look at the groups you've sent this to?
"Down-With-Yaoi"
"ANTI-YAOIYURI"
That's blatant homophobia. It's rude and insulting. I understand that you sent this stamp to these groups because you didn't believe that Rainbow Dash was a lesbian. But it's not like you sent it to groups only stating "I hate non-canon pairings" you sent it to two groups that were against homosexual relationships, which only leads one to imply that you are against homosexuality.
And you can say that you aren't homophobic all you damn want, but that's how I see it.
Whatever.
I'm out.

RoseGirl227 In reply to ??? [2012-02-26 02:56:10 +0000 UTC]

Wow, I'm not even a MLP fan and I see so many flaws in this.
According to many comments on here, because you never see her showing any "lesbian tendencies" on the show, then we can't assume she is.
However, Rainbow Dash hasn't shown a clear sexuality at all. Because it's a show more about friendship rather than romance. But it's alright to do this with fanwork.

So is it okay for someone to say something like "Rainbow Dash hates cherry cheesecake" just because no one's ever seen her eat it? You can't say that, because there's no clear answer if she likes it or not in canon. So if someone wants to, they can make Rainbow Dash devour that cherry cheese cake in seconds.

Another matter, you're claiming that everyone's saying that Rainbow Dash is lesbian just because she is tomboyish, but then start complaining about how other ponies are made lesbian even if they're clearly not tomboyish like RD or AJ. How do explain them making those ponies lesbian?

"All right, what I said probably sounds whiny and homophobic, but is it wrong to want characters to be straight? I like straight pairings, is that so wrong?"
And this is where you went to hypocrite hell. You want people to understand that you like the ponies straight, but why should they understand you if you won't understand them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with preferring straight or gay pairings.

Oh and here's something that will BLOW YOUR MIND!!:
Not all the lesbian pony shippers are men, a lot of them are infact *gasp* WOMEN, and a lot of them are even *gasp* STRAIGHT women!!! Who would've guessed!?

i see your point. but there is also nothing wrong with just wanting to keep the ponies, "straight".

for example, it's not that we don't understand them, it's just that maybe we were brought up on a religion that is completely against lesbian or gay pairings. or maybe, (like most people here) think that all that gross, disgusting, sexual, lesbian or gay pony art is wrong!

i mean, what if a little, innocent, 5 year old girl who hasn't even heard the word "sex" yet, goes on the internet and searches up pony pictures on google, because she loves the show, and right smack-dab in the middle of her search, she finds a picture of two of the mane 6, anthro and nude, on a bed having sex. once she finds out what it means, her life and mental train of thought will be damaged forever.

just like i was when i found out what it meant. i was so depressed that i screamed and cried for hours, refused to eat anything, slept most of the day, and even wished my own death! and that went on for about 2-3 whole months!

it's very important that this type of thing should not be spread on the internet.

Because of that error, you might think that I am homophobic, but I assure you that I am not. I have no problem with gays, lesbians, bisexuals, or trans genders. I have also completely understand that people have their own opinions and will do what they want.

You really screamed, cried, and wanted to kill yourself over THAT? Hun, if you're going to behave that way, then never go one the Internet again and never leave your house. Because that stuff is EVERYWHERE.

I remember when I was a young girl and I DID accidently stumble upon the porn channel on TV. You know what I did? I immediatley realized it was something for adults and switched the channel to something else.

A kid isn't going to want to kill him/herself for accidently finding out what sex is. And if he/she did, then he/she needs to get him/herself checked out because he/she obviously has some mental problems.

it wasn't really just finding out what sex was, it was the thought that everyone i looked up to, including my best friend's parents, my teachers who had kids, and even my own parents had done it. i felt like i was worth nothing for being brought into the world that way. i don't know why but i did. i know it's weird but again, i did.

i felt like everything went wrong for me. and honestly, everything still does go wrong for me.

and i don't know, but i may have actually had mental problems. i always did and still do, feel worthless.

Very cute icon by the way.

Let me just say that I completely understand how you feel. It's scary to think about, and a little gross. If you put too much thought into it then it can really be disturbing. That's why I try not to think about it too much, but honestly I can find myself getting paranoid about things like that. -_-; I don't really like the fact that we were brought into the world that way either. Yet, biology I suppose is something I find just as fascinating as it is gross and disturbing. When I was younger, I was even really embarressed about getting my first period. I didn't even want to tell anyone. I couldn't even sneak my mom's pads because she had a hystorectomy. So I absolutely HAD to tell her...and I hated it. Now that I'm older, I stopped caring about it.

Sex itself doesn't bother me so much anymore, but again if I think TOO much about it then it is kind of gross. I am tokophobic however, and I think it's because finding out that babies come from inside a woman's body....is REALLY disturbing...x.x; I'm never having kids. Ever. In fact, I'd like to get fixed.

SharkTuna In reply to ??? [2012-02-04 18:10:18 +0000 UTC]

I totally agree!
Just because she's a tomboy doesn't mean she's a lesbian, I mean, I'm a tomboy but I'm sure I'm straight ._.
I'm fine with her being paired up with another mare as long as it's the friendship kind of thing. But when it steps into the romance kind of fics, it's just ... omg why.
Not that I'm homophobic or anything, I have nothing against lesbians/gays and I do respect them, but I just don't think homosexuality should be something to be promoted on a large scale.
Maybe they could show that homosexuals should be respected and not ostracized, but not a "BE HOMO, STRAIGHT PEOPLE SUCK" sort of thing.
It's weird though, most of these yaoi/yuri pairings usually involve 2 straight ( or show no signs or homosexuality) characters :/

Why can't RD just be FRIENDS with the rest of the mane 6 or Gilda (I've seen quite a few yuri pics of them).
Somehow being homosexual seems to be a desired for OCs nowadays, be it MLP, furries, Pokemon or just any random anime OC.
And I'm fine with that as long as they don't drag that into canon ( Well it IS a kid's show, so I'll assume they're all straight, unless they show signs of being les/gay or the creators make it official)
Gah I'm rambling again aren't I...

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Windowsinthesky In reply to SharkTuna [2012-04-25 03:09:20 +0000 UTC]

You say you don't hate gay people, then you say that every sweet little (gay) shipping fic is just "omg why", and that homosexuality isn't something that should be represented on a large scale.
Your interpretation of the characters is no better or worse than mine. When I see straight shippery, I skip past it til I find something I like better.
I'm sorry if I come off as whiny or oversensitive or something, but as a gay person, you wouldn't believe the number of times people will say "I don't hate gay people. Srsly." and then say some of the most hurtful things I've ever heard, made all the worse by the fact that they usually don't even realize they've said something wrong. Like... You get real tired of it, you know?

And now I too am rambling.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SharkTuna In reply to Windowsinthesky [2012-04-25 08:17:54 +0000 UTC]

Well, the "omg why" thing is probably because most les/gay story I've read is kind of sloppy, it shows no sign of real love.
It's just "HEY YOU'RE A LES TOO LET'S HAVE SEX" that sort of just jump into scenario.
I mean, even straight relationships that are like that usually end up in flames.

I do come across SOME, although extremely few, good and enjoyable fics, those that actually show an actual relationship.
This is true too for straight stories.

I mean, how many real people actually go find someone they like and just have sex there on the spot, it's so unromantic.

If you were offended by this I truly do apologize, it's just that there's very few good writers around that produce good stuff be it straight or gay/les and it's a waste that they're never heard of and people just simply write stories with no, how do I put this, progression.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Windowsinthesky In reply to SharkTuna [2012-04-25 22:32:14 +0000 UTC]

Well, I mean, yeah, that's kind of the point of most cloppy/shippy fics. "Oh my god! You exist! Let's do poorly written sexual things together, with all the enthusiasm of dead jellyfish! Storyline? Plot? Fuck that! And by plot I mean your ass!"
But I kind of get your point. So much of what's out there is incredibly bad. It's hard enough to find something good without getting tangled up in the genders involved in the pairing.
