Description This entire movie kept me on edge, and it made me cry my eyes out too.

More controversial than most of my posts,  but please don't start a flame war.

Good film but I really dislike the bit with the plane and the girl. That just didn’t happen.

WatchMojo actually put this scene up as the Number One Most Terrifying Scene in Anime. And with good reason. IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. People can cringe at Shion stabbing Satoko to death, mutant bunnies devouring fleeing humans, the Band of the Hawk being torn to pieces, Tetsuo Shima mutating into a human amoeba, and Buppa from Tokyo Tribe raping some kid to death, but watching dead ringers of people who lived in Hiroshima be carbonized by sun-like heat, complete with liquefying eyeballs? I will never be the same again.

It was bad and terrifying enough to see how those poor innocent children witnessed the bombing and lost their eyes and everything in the worst ways unimaginable, but it was even more tragic and heartbreaking to see a poor dog suffer the same fate as those children and families did. He could have been someone's companion for all we know, a loving family member who lost his life in the worst ways no thanks to that horrible bomb that never should have happened in the first place. Why couldn't it be targeted at the ones who were really causing this mess instead of the innocent ones? It's just not fair!

I remember someone put "Best Day Ever" from Spongebob over that scene. It kinda brightened the mood and I got a bit of a chuckle out of it.

Try watching this while listening to Manhattan Project by Rush.

If you think THIS WAS HORRIFYING, try listening to "Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima" by Kryzstof Penderecki.

That was terrifying...but oddly beautiful.

I do not know about that Threnody, but I want you to know that a whole bunch of his other works have been made famous by Stanley Kubrick, in "The Shining." (Said director also used a bunch of Gyorgi Ligeti's work in another one of his masterpiece's, "Space Odyssey 2001") If you consider a hellish 52 string NIGHTMARE of a classical music piece to be somewhat REMOTELY "beautiful", I think you're required to see a psychiatrist.

I think you're mistaken, I'm not saying it's beautiful in the typical sense, but it is perfect for the subject matter.

It's my fault, I should have known other people would have been curious about it.

It's good film for the kind of story it's trying to tell.

Still,  that story is a true one told from a survivor's perspective.
