A tutorial on hands, since I was asked so by
I know that it's a stupid idea to make a tutorial while you're sick. But. This was such handy practice.
Hands are a difficult thing for a lot of people. But honestly, they can be very easy: you just need to know the basics, and practice enough. Nothing comes to you without putting the effort in it, my dears: you will have to draw from your own other hand, again and again.
...And again and again and again.
And again and again and again!
HEAVENS.
One thing:
LOOK UP YOUR OWN REFERENCE. Do not draw from these drawings! You can't believe that I've drawn them the right way, and for all you know I made some huge mistakes. Look it up yourself and THEN draw.
Also:
ALL DRAWINGS IN THIS TUTORIAL BELONG TO XANNIJN ON DEVIANTART.COM. You may NEVER reupload/reproduce these images without my written permission. NEVER claim this work as your own!
That INCLUDES the roughdrafted pages. Seriously. Touch those, and you're DEAD. DEAD I say.
Hope it was of help, and if you have any questions I'd be happy to answer! ;D
Coughcough cough.

I'll only use these for initial practice, so don't worry. Also I won't upload those, so I hope there's no trouble.

This amazes me. Absolutely stunning.
I think hands are beautiful and I can't wait to start practicing them again.

a bit more realist than would make sense for me, but a fantastic tutorial nonetheless!

Sometimes the only way to develop your own style, is by attempting to aim for nature's best example first. It'll open your mind.

Great tutorial !
Too bad the red copyright text and the homosexual drawings made it feel incredibly offending to me, it feels like you suppose the majority of the readers are thieves or hate homosexuals which is NOT the case. Unless you want MORE people to hate you, of course.
I know I'm probably one of the few that replies in such a way, but just like you I like justice, I just don't put a stamp on everything I do to make that clear, it causes more harm than good.
This being said, you look incredibly talented, don't spoil it

I'm sorry, but,are you suggesting that considering homosexualiy as something as normal as heterosexuality is spoiling my talent? Please.
Look dear; the point in adding the gay couple here is rather simple.
If you, as an artist, have a mind that is too closed to not-mind these kind of things, there's no use in trying to improve yourself and this tutorial therefore has no use for you. One will be a midclass artist tops if they refuse to look, look differently sometimes.

You read what you want to read, not what I've written. You've just proven my point by doing this. I never suggested homosexuality has something to do with not being an artist, I just wanted to make clear that you ask for people not to like you by confronting them with something they weren't looking for. And the red letters ... which are actually bothering me more than the other thing

Well dear, I'm not sure whether you've had your work stolen before, but it's happened to me too often before to take the risk. I'm sorry to tell you that the red letters aren't ever going anywhere - just read PAST those if it's so bothering.
I'm not here to make people like me, and I feel sorry for you feel that it's everyone's job to make others like you as much as possible. You'll forget to live, you know. If we simply are nothing but a bunch of back-stabbing liars with 10 different masks on just so that others think differently of you, we might as well get back to totalitary states and all wear similar outfits.
Other than that; there's no point in re-explaining the use of the gay couple here, for I already have. ;D

Hands are so difficult. I remember my teacher gave me some tips and I have o say it did work, but of course not as accurate and realistic as the hands you draw.
Nice tutorial

They can be, but overall they can be very easy as well. I just wish that I'd added some more basic-basics to this. D8

hey, this is, as so often, a very nice and helpful tutorial i should improve my skills, too.
thanks a lot!
but i think i'll have to neglect your tip of drawing one's own hand xD because my hand looks like it's a part of a surrealistic horror painting (no, really, it's a miracle that my hands can create such beautiful things like portraits etc.
you'd have to scream if you could see them
)
but, well, dA will give me some beautiful photos of hands in different positions to draw
(btw: where's the nose of the right man on the passionate kissing scence fortunately you gave a beautiful hand to the left one to look at instead
)

Why thank you! <3
And really? That's a shame! But, yes, luckily there's a lot of stock photography out there as well! <3
Nose? On the middle panel, right? Behind the other guy's nose, of course! ;D Head-tilting in kisses is a must.

oh, you're right. i never thought about head-tilting in kisses that much
but how could it be done another way? it'd hurt otherwise, huh? xD
"kiss me now..."
...
"Ooops! h'msorry "
"OUCH!! you've broken my nose! this is NOT sexy !"
"Nor your bleeding nose
"
