In the 2056, Humanity came into contact with a race of aliens known as Zan'jesh. The Zan'jesh were a war-like species that sought the conquering of the Galaxy. War was inevitable. Humans held strong and fought for many years. Towards the end of the war, the Zan'jesh used a powerful orbital canon to strike the Earth. They had held back as Earth was a planet that would be perfect for colonization. Indeed, as they were from a planet farther from the sun than our own, they had already set up colonies in Siberia, Greenland, and Alaska. The canon hit numerous places, eradicating the land in the vicinity. It was at this point that Humanity unveiled it's greatest weapon: The Perseus Bomb. As Perseus killed Medusa, so would this weapon smite the Zan'jesh. Contrary to expectations, the Zan'jesh had only 1 colony, Jav, alongside their homeworld Kall-foon. 2 Perseus bombs were created. Each was sent to one of the two Zan'jesh worlds. The bombs obliterated the planets. All that was left was small chunks of land that would harbor no life. With this fatal blow, the Zan'jesh were nearly gone. An endangered species of sorts. They surrendered. With nowhere to go and with the Earth's population greatly reduced, Humanity allowed the remaining colony ships to land on Earth. The Zan'jesh colonies previously established were allowed to continue. Most of the aliens were happy to stay. In their culture if one who is more powerful shows you mercy it is a gift and you should grant them your loyalty. Many of the Zan'jesh warships declined the offer of staying on Earth as they were too proud or too bitter to accept it. They left to wander the stars in search of a new world. After the devastation, all plans and schematics of the Perseus bomb was wiped. It's creators were sworn to secrecy of its inner workings. All seemed at peace. The nations and governments of Earth we're still unorganized from the attack a few years prior. They relied on the Union of Nations For Space Warfare (UNSW) for support and guidance. However it was then, after only 2 years of peace, that Zan'jesh extremists launched an attack and destroyed the Space Station Theta; the home of the UNSW government. With the UNSW destroyed the nations on Earth fell apart. With them fell the knowledge of space travel as many who knew how to build or operate the technology was either dead or fled the planet. Humanity was once more in a Dark Age. But now they had to live with a new player; the Zan'jesh. Tensions were rising between the races. After several years, new nations had formed, but thanks to the shut down of communciation, many have forgotten why the world is even as it is. Zan'jesh are not considered aliens but merely competition. Now this new world of must claw it's way to a new age. But for now, the battle for dominance wages onward.

If the thing gets weird and has a bunch empty space above the image, just zoom in then zoom out and it fixes itself. I dunno what's causing it.

EDIT: Fixed damn near all the borders and provincial divisions. I can't save the flags, the ugly things, but I did clean up the map at least.
