Two States of America, Two Russias, Two Germanies, Two Brazils!

And just to explain the Germanies; both claim to be Germany proper, claiming the "German" lands of each other, with the German-Danubians declaring the Prussians to be "Half-Slav Impostors" and thus want only to Berlin, and the German Republic wanting nothing past what is the Crown of Greater Austria (i.e. Germany in Germany-Danubia) in the Confederation.

So, it's supposed to be confusing, as there are essentially two Germanies, each claiming to be the rightful master of all Germans and claiming all of Germany. Before the Crowns of Hungary, Serbia, and Romania gained equal status (the region called Danubia for short), both were technically called the German Empire, with a North or South slapped on in front by their allies. When the North saw the overthrow of the monarchy, it became Republican Germany and Imperial Germany for a short while before Germany-Danubia was formed.

Points of Interest
1. The Independent Republic of Kentucky, just like the IR of Missouri, was made an sovereign buffer state after the American Civil War. After the CSA and USA mutually barred trading with one another, the two republics became hubs of commerce and the main movement of Dixie products into the US and Yankee products into the CS. Once both the Union and the Confederacy eliminated slavery, the two IRs remained the only nations with the institutions on Earth. Missouri applied for statehood in the CS since the southern government gave compensation for all slaves, while the US refused to. Kentucky, meanwhile, having had no actual reliance on slave labor in years, despite it's legality, simply abolished the practice and remained independent, having grown the far wealthier of the two nations. Since the War On Communism, the hypercapitalistic Kentuckians have moved into the Dixie camp.
2. California became independent after the Mormons were covertly supported by the CSA for their independence movement, leaving the Union state isolated. However, the US government and Army reacted poorly to attempts by California to cordially leave the Union on pragmatic concerns, and attempts to enforce Union control and eventually martial law helped to create Californian nationalism and anti-Union sentiment out of thin air.
3. The Republic of Columbia is a CS-puppet, but one whose own naval power and skill has made all attempts to circumvent the CS Army's border patrol on the East by sea impossible for the Canadians, no matter how badly they want to retake the region.
4. The People's Republic of Ecuador was going to be included into Bolivara (other name for the PFCV) but opted to remain sovereign. Considering this made them a less fortified and thus easy target for the Dixie, however, has made them feel foolish for not accepting annexation.
5. The People's Republic of Guiana, however, is glad they avoided not just annexation, but that they had already began floating towards the safer camp of the Andeans before the War on Communism began.
6. The Democratic People's Republic of Costa Rica had really only been communist in name, with a liberalized economy and several fair elections. However, being allied with the PFCV and maintaining lip service to Karl Marx and Luis Jaimes made them a target for the angry CS. They will likely never recover, as the events having only made their population divided between corporatists and hardline communists, neither of whom want democracy.
7. The Irish are making their third go for freedom. The Easter Insurrection in the 1900s was brutally crushed, and the suppression of the Londonderry Riots in the 1950s almost bordered on genocide. But considering that the leadership of both had combined Catholicism and Marxism into one "Irish ideology", everyone turned a blind eye. Now the Emerald Isle just wants to run their won democracy, capitalism and all, but by now the British have redeveloped their knee-jerk reaction to Irish Independence; violence.
8. The United Kingdom of Greece and Albania; A union forged from fear of the Turks, the Austrians, the Italians, and the arranged marriage of royal houses. Ethnic tensions has been solved with a model of total ethnic equality...but two groups are simply "more equal than others," and it's even color-coded: all ethnic Albanians wear red armbands; all ethnic Greeks wear blue. Anyone without is a foreigner or a minority, and thus treated like dirt.
9. Poland has been trying to leave the Tzardom for years; but alas, only the German-Danubians support the idea, and that's only to then become member of the Confederation!
10. French control of Madagascar is delusional at best. The local government hasn't received an official order from Paris in over twenty years!
11. Somalia, Ethiopia, and Egypt have been rivals for generations now, and many people are hesitant to actually make maps with permanent borders in this region, as each government has so many overlapping claims, and who each municipality actually listens to changes with the wind.
12. The second grandson of the Chinese Eternal President just so happened to be the next Dalai Lama! What a coincidence! Their independence is paper thin, and really the region was more of a present from the President to his grandson, who follows Chinese foreign policy to a T, despite heading a theocracy.
13. Chinese backed Korea claims to control the entire peninsula. Japanese backed Korea claims the same. The two powers see it as fun game of proxy and hegemony; what they don't realize is that the two governments have been reconciled and operating jointly via conference calls since the 1970's!
14. The Republic of Vietnam dreams of controlling all of Southeast Asia, and driving out all Communist imperialist influence! China finds their enthusiasm adorable, and is content to let them dream and do all the heavy lifting in the area.
