Description
Flag for the Dominion of Southern America, as www.alternatehistory.com/forum… featured in the venerable Glen's TL over on AH.com.This is the idea I had for a flag since I noticed the premier country of the TL never actually got an official one. I designed it, along side the Coat of Arms found upon it. Glen has said this is going to be the official initial flag of the country that they use in throughout the 19th and 20th Century.
For the escutcheon, I modified the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom during the time of the Dominion's foundation. I moved Ireland to sinister chief to impale it with the fleur-de-lis of the old English Arms in order to make space at the bottom, but in truth this would symbolize how the UK as an entire entity (England, Scotland, and Ireland) are from where the Dominion is descended from. The Palmetto argent on a field azure symbolizes the Dominion of Southern America as under the rule of the British Crown, with the Arms of Hanover at sinister base being the completion of all the nations under the rule of the British Royal Family. The magnolia at fess point completes that this is the arms of the Dominion, the native flower symbolizing the nation, thus distinguishing it from a the Royal Arms used by monarchs when within the Dominion.
The coronet is the Loyalist/United Empire coronet of the TL, as it was the South that stayed loyal to the crown, and thus the Maple Leaf found in the OTL Loyalist Coronet is now a Palm Leaf (or at least my best attempt at one).

Could I use this flag on a map inspired by the DSA timeline?

Thank you And I'll definitely give credit where it is due! I've recently found out about the timeline and I'm reading through the entire main thread now before completing the map, and so far it is coming out a bit different from the original. It might be a week or so before I post it.
