I hope you don't mind all of these questions but what kind of elastic did you use? Plastic, knitted or braided?

I am quite positive it was braided! I know it definitely wasn't plastic/clear.

Ok thanks, I bought a braided one but I was told that they lose their elasticity.

Did you need to modify the neckline of the pattern at all? It looks like it goes pretty low originally on the pattern picture but doesn't look so here.

I did alter it slightly, yes.

hello, just wanted to know if you have a pattern for the breastplate because you did a fantastic job with it in the video.

I do not have a pattern made for the breastplate that can be printed out but the video is a tutorial on how to make it as it is based off of whatever pattern you are using for the leotard itself, thus it is quite versatile

Oooooh my God. I just finished it with my 4-way stretch, but mine was metallic and ridiculously slippery. However, success! Now onto part III - and thanks again for sharing this wonderful tutorial!!

Ok NOW I'm on to part III. Other parts of Life happens sometimes.

A friend's suggestion: put snap-ons at the bottom to facilitate bathroom stall operations. I laughed, then considered, and then realised ... yep. It's a good idea.

That's an option too that I have considered, but my leotard is relatively easy to slip out of, so using the bathroom wasn't an issue... and I guess I am just used to having to go to the bathroom in leotards from Figure Skating and...giant hoop skirts for skating lol

I would not have been able to otherwise. No joke. This is my first cosplay, so I had no idea how to start off!! I was also inspired by your awesomeness. So you helped twofold.

Senshi costumes are quite difficult so I praise you that this is your first one!

I went through three leotards trying to perfect one :/
One was for Sailor Cosmos, one for Neptune and another for Moon >.< I had used the Green Pepper pattern by itself then tried to follow Cupcake Cosplay's (but their tutorial wasn't very clear and seemed to lack important information and it just didn't work out for me). So I had to try a different approach

For the white suit the way you explain it, totally works! It's the best-looking part! (The bows are so cute too, they're super anti-floppy!) I tried the collar with your dimensions, but I'm probably much bigger than you are ...! Heheh. So that I had to modify. Anywho, I'm reccomending this to anyone who asks!!

Yeah, I had this love sewing costumes for Hallowe'en as a teenager, and when it stopped being "cool" coming to school dressed up, I had no more sewing outlets - until this! Mwahahah.

Tayloreo [2013-01-14 22:25:52 +0000 UTC]

what kind of fabric do you recommend?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Xelhestiel In reply to Tayloreo [2013-01-14 22:32:38 +0000 UTC]

For the leotard always use a 4-way stretch. The pattern I used is not meant for a non-stretch material as this leotard is one that you step into, there is no zipper. For the skirt, bows, etc. You can use whatever you'd like. Keep in mind though if you use a stretch material for the skirt, you cannot get solid pleats but more like mine where it is flowy. If you want solid pleats, you'd want to use satin (preferably).
