Description
Two sub-adult Tyrannosaurus rex want to take the carcass from the older relative. Of course, he is not happy with such an encroachment. Elder T. rex furiously hisses at enemies and makes warning attacks. But this time the situation may not be in his favor.
This is the first drawing of this year showing the intraspecific interactions of animals. Tyrannosaurus rex had a very high level of intraspecific aggression. Almost every specimen carries a pathologies inflicted by other T. rexes. I showed traces of some of them on these Tyrannosaurs. Here you can see scars from teeth and claws. The individual on the left has a wound on the jaw caused by claws of the feet. I will address this topic in one of the next pictures.
Also, if anyone has any questions about the integument, I note that these Tyrannosaurus covered with reticula*, there are no filamentous feathers. The muzzle is covered with thick embossed keratin, as suggest by my views.
Black ink pen, 2018.
*It uses the same meaning as a similar word for "scales" on the feet of birds. That is, it is a secondary modification of feathers.

Outstanding artstyle. Only complaint I got is that the contrast is a bit too rich at times, the wrinkles look a bit too "sharp", which makes the texture look more like a plastic bag than like fleshy, smooth skin.

Thank you very much! In fact, I tried to soften the folds where possible. You can see the results of these attempts where light-and-shadow is expressed by dots. But maybe in some places it looks too contrast.

Good point. I just think it's cute how big those jaw muscles could be. Reminds me of tegu lizards.

the dimple shading is such an underutilized technique, and you did a really great job with it! kudos

Although I know some artists who draw in a similar style, most draw in other techniques. And I think that, in fact, it is good, because less competition.

The flap details are amazing! I'm very very impressed. I gotta learn from these straight away.

Love the wrinkly skin you've been giving these guys.

Wow, this really resembles Robert Bakker's drawings in The Dinosaur Heresies. Great job!

Oh, thank you for that compliment! Bakker is one of my favorite artists (thouh he is paleontologist rather than arist). And I know this book, most of the his illustrations that I've seen come from there. Bakker was one of my sources of inspiration.

Awesome wrinkles man, just like a mix of elephants and komodo dragons

Thanks. Honestly, I don't see the resemblance with the elephants, there is much more reminiscent of monitor lizards and iguanas. I like to draw "reptilian" skin folds to scaly dinosaurs.

Oh and the pronounced jaw muscles are very cool looking. Reminds me of the said iguana's cheeks

Thank you, I was inspired mostly by tegus, and yes, by the iguanas. Tegu has very strong jaws. In addition, crocodiles, also having a great bite force, have thick necks. Tyrannosaurus rex had the strongest jaws among land predators, so I would expect it to have such an appearance.

И не нужен полноценный фон. Посмотри как у буриана графика.

Huzzah!
This I like! ...I'm fond of dinosaur art, albeit most examples 'disappoint' me somehow.
I've never been able to define what I look for in such art---I know only my aesthetics
are very precise (I tend to favor Douglas Henderson's watercolors).
This sketch, somehow, appeals to me. :3

Thanks a lot. If you like the Henesrson's works (although there are mostly pastel paintings) and you like this drawing, I am very glad to see it on a par with the works of the Master.
And yes, it's not a sketch, it's a finished drawing, if that.
