Description
Here is my new work. This is another Triassic crurotarsan, Lotosaurus adentus. This is a remake of my older work (this one: xiphactinus.deviantart.com/β¦/Strange-sailback-578901β¦). Lotosaurus was a strange rauisuchian. He is a representative of family of these amazing animals, Ctenosauriscidae. Many of them were predators, but this animal refused to predatory habits, his diet consisted mainly of plants, as can be seen in his toothless beak. In addition, he had a hump on his back, as his predatory relatives from this family.Related content

Based on how it could have eaten either or both.

It looks like someone took parts from a bunch of different dinosaurs and glued them all together, like some sort of poorly-made hoax.

Yeah, he looks like a hybrid of several dinosaurs: the head is from a small ornithopod, the hump from Ouranosaurus, and the proportion - from some primitive stegosaurs.

I agree, this is a very strange animal. And yes, it's not crocodylomorph.

It's paracrocodylomorph (or "rauisuchian").Β Although, wait, this group includes crocodylomorpha... But this animal is not crocodylomorph.

Excellent work on a poorly known species ! I confess I only knew its name. This looks like a crurotarisan trying very hard to be a hadrosaur. ^^It's also making me wondering why sail structure were so widespread, among archosaurs and synapsids. I really like the pattern you put on the sail as well as the ranges of small osteoderms. Great work !

Thank you! To be honest, he reminds me of Brachytrachelopan, the short-necked sauropod.Β Β
