Description
I get a little tired of people implying (or just outright saying) that anything fatter I draw is always better (no matter how much work I put into something I've just drawn that just happens to look "slimmer" pay no attention to higher quality line art folks!).
I was feeling a bit more irked about it last night than usual, I decided to make a statement with this little "tutorial"
Yes, I could just draw super fat things, yes I could do drawings in 5 minutes flat... why wouldn't I? because I care about quality.
Admittedly I'm just an amature artist, and I don't have nearly as much talent as most people here on DA, but at least I care about some of the art I do.
Bring out the flame throwers
Post Production note: "Looks" was a typo, and I'm too lazy to go back and fix it

Whew, 'bout time someone made something like this! I'm glad you're also someone that cares about quality over quantity, if you catch my drift. x3

It's John Carptenter's 1982 remake of the 1951 film The Thing from Another World. Both films are based on the novel Who Goes There? which I think is based on or inspired by the H. P. Lovecraft mythos since the monster either is or is based on the Shoggoth (of Lovecraftian lore).

heh, it is always good to stick it to them where it hurts. i suppose i am guilty of the whole idea of working on the upper end of things, as well as being a generally lazy bastard when it comes to time and effort in my work. why am i like that. but is tis true that quality is often something that should be regarded with any work, i guess that is whyi have been watching your stuff for a while, even back to the good old yahoo group days

Hrmmm....at first, when I was saw this and read afew of the comments I said "This has been bitched about SO many times before." But I look at myself surfin' DeviantArt for hittin' the Mojo sometimes and smack my forehead for doin' so, realizeing that these guys are doin' what they love best, Art. But I also think it's because I'm lookin' for the best besides just blobs or Planet-Spheres, something actually creative and not just aimed to get it up, and with those creative pieces I comment on them, or fav em, as there's really no words to be said about a great picture sometimes. As I read on in the comments, I began to get it through my noggin the clear message of this rant and agree with it. All Anime-Kind, People, whatever are human beings and shouldn't really be drawn so...unrealisticly, at least not all the time. (What can be put on paper with our imaginations is unlimited) They have a certian capacity about their size and figure and not just limitless space. Not all art should be blobs or spheres. It at least needs to be drawn in a parameter where it could be understood and shows true talent and work. And I've checked out some of your art before and said it was pretty good, but I moved on, partially because it wasn't was I was looking for, I guess. My sole oppinion for everybody, every artist, is that all artist should be treated as equals for what they do no matter what for creativity, emotion, expression, exilheration, talent, ect. However, sometimes, some self proclaimed artists do get abit out of hand, I'll say that. But for the artists that do have talent and do their best to put life into a drawing and make something that's gonna attract these sort of people should know what's commin' to them and keep what they make instead of then going around yelling and screaming about it like it's a WorldWide Catastrophe after they've had enough people comming up to them whackin' off to it or askin' "make her bigger". Ture, that people want to vent sometimes, and it's real healthy too, they have the freedom to do so or just want to start something to talk about it. But it's all been said before and people have argued and debated time after time again. It was a hell of a ride, yeah, but bringing it up again isn't really gonna get the cutest of reactions, but people will listen and make their oppinions on it like I did. It's a real double-edged sword, if you think about it and I hope I've at least shed some light on another side of the story for you.
We've all had this sort of thing happening to ourselfs at some point in our lives and took time to grow out of it, but I'll say, sadly, that some just never did. And I bid you good luck to your new endevors in the future. Keep on drawing and keep that mind flowing.

β¦Holy crap! I finally reached the last comment.
Can I put this on a wall? I canβt stop laughing at how much this reminds me of all the real name/mythical creature/anime reference/video game character/fetish type/number sequences inhabiting the net, as I type, ruining their keyboards to toons regardless of size or whatever and calling it a brotherhood. Sorry if this falls in the death of the moment but you made my week with this, although a good chunk was spent trekking threw the positive feedback.
Good luck on that original idea bit, Iβve been trying to find one/it myself with limited success.

You bet your cramped, computer worn wrists on a wall. While nothing could fully defuse my hatred for the majority of the internet this beauty could delude my wasted emotions into comedy for a few hours. Just sit back in an office chair, grab a tasty beverage, listen to some psychedelic rock or Ode to Joy if I got a really good one coming, and let that whiney voice I put on every dork drabbed post I see go on about how his (invisible)girlfriend kagome wants to become like this.
Therapeutic if I ever seen it.

....yeah...the thing that sucks about though, is that i'm guilty of drawing five second pics and declaring them masterpeices....even though i knew they weren't. none of my da pics or comics took under 15 minutes, but they're basically just doodles i've done in class and such.

Didn't read all the comments on this page so sorry if i'm repeating someone's else post.
What some people don't understand is that an artist draws women the way he likes them, not the way other people would like them to be, otherwise that what requests are for, to make some people that don't have the same tastes in body shape, mass and proportions, happy. Then , the artist feels free to share his work with the community, and for people who have the same tastes as him and that aren't born with a pencil in their hands, it's always a good news to discover his drawings. It's very regrettable to get some comments like "good drawing, but can you draw her bigger next time , plz ?" when the man/woman that wrote this comment wasn't aware of the time the artists spent to draw this art and was thinking for her own tastes.
Anyway, don't stop drawing because of some idiotic comments, your art is one of the most accomplished ones. The evolution between 2002 and now is very impressive, and doesn't stop improving !

I agree, fatter isn't always better. I don't even draw it usually. I get people who are obsessed more with the "fat" part and care nothing for the "art" part. Keep up the good work, don't let the idiots out there frustrate you too much. ^_^
