Come in close now it's time to tell the story
Long ago, and so many years before we
Ever were, ever dreamed we even could be
There was her and her very first heartbeat
All alone in a corner of the night sky
Spiral bones of a supernova starlight
Fell in love with another burning bright
She dreamed of a way to ignite
She said
Tonight
Come on, come on collide
Break me to pieces
I, I think you're just like heaven
Why, come on, come on collide
Let's see what a fire feels like
I bet it's just like heaven
Just like heaven
Just like heaven
Such a shame nowhere near even a near miss
Light years away from the hope of being sun-kissed
Anchored home in her interstellar sea bed
Poor lonely Cassiopeia
So she sighs and she burns with desperation
Learns to cry over love of constellations
Then a spark from a star shooting too close
They both smiled "What a day to explode"
She said
Tonight
Come on, come on collide
Break me to pieces
I, I think you're just like heaven
Why, come on, come on collide
Let's see what a fire feels like
I bet it's just like heaven
Just like heaven
Just like heaven
Long ago in a sky built before us
A supernova grew up to be stardust
Now, I'm not normally one to post song lyrics, but these were directly responsible for this piece. And I just think that the song itself is terribly romantic and beautiful.
After first I tried to do something more dynamic (and coincidentally more heated), I eventually decided that a picture that was "quieter" and peacefully intimate would work better. And I tried doing something that was more Alphonse Mucha inspired for the background, but it just didn't turn out quite as simplistically beautiful as I wanted it to be, so I ripped it out and made the background transparent and added an organic starfield behind them.
Eventually I'll get around to coloring the figures.
3 February 2014:
Hey look! Color! I did get around to finishing Danah's redesigned markings (at least the front in any case) so I decided to go ahead and start on this again. Got all the flats done, did the skin and then I ran out of juice. So I'm leaving it there for now. I still have a lot of work to do elsewhere on paid work, so for now this is how it is till I can get back and finish coloring their clothes and hair.
Danah belongs to me.

The coloring looks like it's coming out beautifully, but man, I'm in love with just the lineart. The way her hair and skirt drape are fantastic. I'm all about parts of the character defining a space.

Th-thank you >///////< Danah is very much a character where I indulge in my guilty pleasures of drawing. Large breasts, long hair, a shapely body, lots of expressions and whatever clothes I feel like making her wear XD

Nothing guilty about that, your character, so what you choose for her is always gonna be spot on.
Also, as a fan of the long swooshy hair/lots of expressions/fun clothing movement I support your choices.

well, more like "I like drawing these things a LOT so in an effort to not make EVERY character like this, here is one character that just embodies all these characteristics to satisfy my needs to draw these things when the fancy strikes me" kind of a guilty pleasure XD

That makes way more sense than my "I'll just draw pointless pictures of everyone with flowing hair once in a while." strategy. You may be on to something here.

XD I need to get back in the habit of just drawing. After I get through all my commissions, perhaps. lately I can't really justify drawing for kicks and giggles unless it's for a specific thing. So I haven't really drawn at all Someday...

It's tough when you've got commissions, at least for me, I always feel like I need to get the commissions done before working on my own art or I am shirking.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I can't do any of my own stuff until I work on at least one commission first.

It's like being able to eat a cookie but only after you've done some sort of exercise. *not very good analogy*

lol yes! pretty much XD At least that's what it feels like. Or like not letting yourself eat a cookie till you've made a bunch for other people.

The quiet, personal feeling really shines through - to echo Deus, you totally got what you were going for. ^.^ It's romantic without being overblown, and has a sort of wistful-yet-deep passion to it.
Also? Dem stars.
