Description My secret Santa gift to of her awesome OC Ayako.

EDIT: Finished! Yay! *dies* Now onto the rest of the artwork I owe.

Unfortunately I'm still not done! I'm not done with a lot of things, reasons to be explained in a journal...

This is as far as I could get when I realized it was 3AM Christmas morning. So I'm going to leave it here, get some sleep, spend Christmas with my family and hope that this is enough to tide subomouse over until I can finish later.

So. To explain what you are seeing, when I was reading through the list of characters, Ayako caught my eye because not only did she have a full character sheet, but she was an ethnicity I don't normally draw. She is also a happy bouncy kind of character: another thing I don't normally draw. Also, she seemed to me to be the type of person who could jump into the air and never leave the sky. Hence the picture. She doesn't have any kind of supernatural powers that I know of.

So there you have it. I'll talk more in my journal.

I really like this one. Β I am looking for an artist to do the cover of my middle grade fiction. Β  Please take a look at my profile to get an idea of what the book is about then send me a message if you're interested in learning more. Β Thanks!

'she seemed to me to be the type of person who could jump into the air and never leave the sky'

such a beautiful way to describe someone!

Her splayed toes and arched back really give her a wildly free-flying feel. All the contrasting motions in her clothes, hair, and jewelry really add to the feel that she's at the peak of a jump - and not coming down any time soon. And her WINGS. wow. I just can't get over the colour and joy in this picture.

The only thing I can see to change is to touch up the light source - it seems to be coming from several places at once :3

Really? I was going for behind to the left, because I really like the way light creates an almost halo around objects it's behind. But I do see your point. I'll keep it in mind next time I try to tackle this type of light source.

I love the halo of light backlighting brings, too. I've yet to properly conquer it, though |D

Most of the light is indeed coming from that behind-to-the-left backlighting source, but there's some that seems to be coming from different angles on parts of her body. on her torso it seems to be coming from more in front of her. The light seems to be affecting her left leg differently than her right leg, almost as if you shaded them in two different styles (her right having a very sharp contrast of light-to-shadow and her left having a more gradual gradation). The sleeve of her jacket seems to follow her torso's front-lighting scheme, with random highlights on the middle of the back/body of it that contradict any previously mentioned light source.

however, these are all really just semantics being argued - the piece is positively gorgeous as-is.

This is so pretty the Yoko! It is a really great composition. You balanced the the brightness around the figure with the dark heavy colors. It looks really nice!

I... I... I...

HOLY WOW ON A STICK

This is utterly gorgeous, thank you so much! Forgive the drool I'm leaving everywhere, please.

"Also, she seemed to me to be the type of person who could jump into the air and never leave the sky."

This is probably the most accurate phrase ever for her. Even though she doesn't have any supernatural powers, this image captures her so perfectly that I'm in awe. I cannot say thank enough. <333

but as an attempt:

THANK YOU thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou thankyou... i'll stop being annoying now. XD

And also: Of course I don't mind! X3 Family comes first, yah yah?

Glad you like it :3 It'll probably get done sometime tomorrow, if not tonight.

I hope the saturation isn't totally skewed. When I do low saturated art it tends to come out really saturated elsewhere/other comps, so I have no clue what this looks like to your computer. But I'm really glad you like it :3 I was worried a bit by how you'd take my interpretation.
