A Steam themed visual style for Windows 7. (Now updated with flash and progress bar version).
(Here's a video showing how the theme should look like when fully applied )
The visual style incorporates the appearance of Steam with a functioning Windows visual style.
The theme comes with 2 substyles - aside from the default, there's an automatically centering taskbar, and a more simple one. Will be adding another style later. Taskbar is usable with small icons, and side taskbar too, though the main focus is the bottom mode.
I'll be making matching icons and templates in a later release, but for now, it uses the timeless Token icons, as it was almost a perfect match for the Steam look. I'm also planning to make a matching Rainmeter suite.
I've also made preparations for making the Pixel Vision Steam theme styles VS.

I've also made an installer to be used with 7TSP.
I've separately uploaded the 7tsp installer, since DA has some kind of problem updating the main file when zip inside zip is involved. Download from my st.ash:

How to install:
You can install the theme using 7tsp now!
You can download 7tsp here: www.xptsp.com/fixit/7tsp.php
Download and install 7tsp, and browse for the .7z pack inside it, then click on "Start Patching".
OR the old method
What you have to do:
- Download and install UxStyle (uxstyle.com) OR Universal Theme Patcher.
- Copy the contents of Themes folder to \Windows\resources\themes folder.
- Apply it in personalization or double clicking .theme file you like.

I have a little problem, my 'X' button along with Maximize and Minimize buttons are not all the way to the right, can you tell me how to fix it? And do I have to manually install the icon pack or is it included in the theme? Because my taskbar icons, Drive icons etc. have not changed. i.imgur.com/18hlQWM.png

Hi. My 7tsp program didt see eny of 7z files or any. When i force him to patch "Steam VS for Windows 7.7z" he show up :

You might have tried it with the one on this site, that is the complete pack, not only the 7TSP installer. DA doesn't allow uploading with zip inside zip, so I had to separately upload the 7TSP pack.

This is a great and perfect work, and making a windows theme can be pretty hard (I have tried with the windows skin builder, but it's really hard sometimes).
Making a more than complete skin like this is really a great work!
I use the Customizable Metro skin for my Steam app, then this windows theme can't go with it (and I am pretty happy with my Aero Metro 8 theme too ^^").
But I think to try it later and give a better comment ; )

This very cool, though the icons for me at least didn't change (taskbar icons at least), still I love it. I usually Steam and it's great to see a theme for it making me feel my laptop is a Steam kind of PC. Haha. Thanks for making this baby!

I downloaded 7tsp and the 7tsp pack from here & selected it in the program. After that i ticked Logon screen, side panel and menu start up in & patched + restarted. Everything seems to of been patched correctly apart from the login screen & menu start orb haven't changed?

i managed to change the windows button with that orb program but how do you change how the icons look, the token, like the icons for the browsers, chrome, firefox, etc. or the folders for music, documents and all the rest?
this is looking really awesome by the way, i really like it, has to be one of the most beautiful themes out there, imho.

Am I the only one who had troubles with the installer? The themes are fine but when it rebooted it messed so much with my windows it took me a while to repair and initialize.

I'm actually using this. It's so cool. Congrats to you sir, I've always find hard to share someone else's like for the aesthethic looks, even more when it's about my desktop.
(BTW I had troubles at first with the taskbar, it looked different being all grey, but then I "fixed it" by changing "never combine" option at "taskbar buttons" with "always combine".)

Hi there! I just wonder if you have fixed the issue with flashing buttons on taskbar. I have updated to the latest version but I just see a new style with a tiny bar that flashes. Wasn't you able to make the whole button flash. I'm used to use the simple version and the buttons don't flash with it. Still loving the theme though

Oh true, I've totally forgotten about the basic version; I'll try to fix that one too after I'm finished with my current project. And while at it, might also make the fixed version a little bit better looking

I love the way this theme is supposed to look. Problem is, I followed the tutorial that was in the description, and also did all the things in the howto.txts, and it still doesn't work. The Taskbar is just a dark grey version of the XP/Vista (i cant remember) taskbar, and many of the other things are not appearing. The icons, the start orb, pretty much everything except the color is not here. Is there an uber specific tutorial anywhere?

If the taskbar looks like the classic Windows shell, just the color scheme applied (and I think the wallpaper too), that implies a missing or faulty theme patcher.
Have you installed UxStyle
- If you didn't, go to its homepage, download and install it, then try applying the theme again.
- If you did, google on Universal Theme Patcher, restore the system files it can restore, then reinstall UxStyle
- If that fails, run UTP again, and patch the system files again
One of these should resolve that.
For the start orb:
Use this program with the png files I've provided in the 7zip archive.
For the taskbar, you manually have to replace the icons, or by a program called Taskbar Items Pinner. (I used Token icons for the theme, because they just fit; linked in description).

AWESOME! It works almost perfectly. The only thing is that the Minimize maximize and exit buttons are slightly but noticebly to the left of where they should be, and the previous and next buttons in explorer are still default. But these are minor problems, and this is my first time installing custom themes, so that's probably my fault. But great theme man, looks really good. Looking forward to the SAO one.

I might just have found a way to fix those caption buttons, will later try it.
The navigation icons (next, prev, etc in explorer windows) are part of explorerframe.dll, they can be changed by replacing that file (\Windows\system32\explorerframe.dll) with the one I've included.
I'm really close to finishing the SAO theme, if all goes well will be done with its initial release today (Sunday here).

If I recall correctly, I've added a version that more or less works together with flash and progress bars for the taskbar items. I've made them a while ago though, just forgot I did until recently.
Also added a video to show people - who might not be sure if they applied it correctly or not - how the theme is supposed to look.

Hi, i tried installing the white pack, and when i restarted my computer i couldn't log on to windows and got a message saying ''The program can't start because SHELL32.dll is missing from your computer'' what could cause this problem? i have service pack one

Hello!
Typically there are 2 scenarios when this happens;
1.) If you replace the wrong shell32.dll. For 32-bit you have to use the one inside the "x86" folder, and copy that shell32.dll into your System32 folder. For 64-bit systems you have to use the one inside "x64" folder, and copy that one into the System32 folder, and not the SysWOW64!
2.) You might have your anti-virus catching the file and deleting it. Since you take ownership and permission of a system file, your anti-virus might detect it as malicious intent initiated by a 3rd party, and quarantine -> delete your new shell32.dll, leaving you with the renamed shell32 (that will not be recognized by the system after you restart) and no actual shell32.dll file.
If you are sure you used the right dll file, you might try replacing the file again with anti-virus turned off, making sure you have the shell32.dll after you copy it (check if it is inside the folder like it should).
