Please don't be afraid to use a reference. Its like owning a horse, and using your memories of it to inspire and guide your art.
Just be sure to ALWAYS credit the reference.

Woho! I really respect you for doing linearts in Paint! I'm never gonna return to it, though, I'm soooo thankful for my Photoshop. I draw linearts with tablet, using brush. It's way faster than what I used to do with curved lines in Paint... Though the pics are now MUCH bigger... XD

I would love to do lines with my photoshop but I don't have pen pressure and my tablet is as big as my dad's open hand lol. Its cheap and its lines are awful. I must admit though...I personally think doing lines with the curve tool is quicker ._. instead of drawing a line and it not being perfect, I now draw a line and it goes exactly where I want it to go lol. Maybe its an artist thing!
But I love your PS arts

There IS (or at least should be) the pen tool in PS. I have it hidden behind brush (Pencil tool?). I feel sorry for you because of the tablet of yours. You could do amazing things in PS if you got a bigger one. 
Well, I agree - it is an artist thing. When I was using Paint, the lines never went where I wanted them to go... Maybe you're more skilled with it... The truth is, I was muuuuch younger back then

Hmm, maybe a question to make this clear - WHAT pen tool do actually you mean? Is there some special? My brush tool in PS actually adjusts to my tablet pen. It kinda changes a litle and becomes keen on the tablet pen's pressure... Maybe that's what you're missing?

Hmmm, you most probably don't have it. But that may be becuse you're using Elements... I've never used that so far so I don't know. Do you also have PS as a separate application?
