Description
This is what I have been doing lately towards my animation project. I took some of the sprites that were ripped from Sonic 3 and pieced them back together. I edited most of them as there were some issues (things like the back tail being in front of the front shoe) There are 36 unique frames and a total of 113 frames in this animation.I am using this to get a better feel for how the frames translate into an animation and will be adding a background, more frames, and sound before I am done with this practice project. I doubt that I will be able to upload the entire thing but we will see.
I chose to do this in a 50 by 50 pixel size incase any one wants to use it as an avatar. Feel free to do so if you have the inclination.

As it says on the bottom of the sheet, Fox Omega did the ripping from the game Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Sonic and Tails are both copyrighted characters, they belong to SEGA.

I don't know if you are allowed to do straight rips but I did a lot of editing to each frame to smooth out some of what I feel were errors in the original and make the whole thing flow better. None the less these may not be legitimate but I have not been asked to take it down yet (and would if asked) and I have cited the sources as best as I can.

Ahh good pint. xD
I noticed it mose on the last few frames when he is at top acceleration. He only has 2 frames of animation in the original STH3 (which is easilly distinguished from STH2 because of the difference in color on his white markings) but there it looks like maybe 4 or 5. Nice work especially since I'd have never taken the time to edit them lik that. xD
I'm a big animation freak myself (My icon sais alot) and have noticed the image differs alot from the original but it might help to be a bit bigger since i's a small image to begin wih.

Well one thing is doing an animation with sprites but doing it with your own drawings is totally different and very hard. Well not so different, sprites are like drawings but little and made with pixels...

The point was to change a series of images into the illusion of motion; in that intent this was a success. I know that it will be much more difficult to translate my drawings into motion but this was only to serve as an early tutorial to understand animation better.

Thats a pretty smooth animation you did there!
I cant wait to see more if your going to consider sprite animations as well as hand drawn ones.

I did this animation as practice to see how well I could translate frames into a smooth animation, I am not doing sprite animations for any reason asside of experimentation/reference matriel though I will probably do a few more before all's said and done. It takes a lot less work to experiment with a 50X50 pixel animation then the 640X480 that I am doing the final animation in.
